In Times of War, Everyone Is Called To Fight...

Post » Thu Jan 20, 2011 10:17 pm

Ok,as u said it is an FPS,u are fighting all the time,u can't strip your char,at least not in sight of enemies.I don't see it as a valid argument sry.
On the other hand the game has a story,in this story has women that in game are not represented,so it's already a con for the ones RP'ing.

Again,is a technical issue and we understand, further more this is how a community asks something, shows how much it wants something.

I'm only going to add this then afterwards no more. You'd honestly like to play as a half naked chick in the middle of a war-zone?

there aren't any women on the ark. case closed. it's not a breeding colony.

realistic answer: a few dozen outfits, each one with a dozen textures, and each one modified for 3 bodytypes, of which they probably never even decided what archetypes they would be.

who wants to play as helga von moonass? realistically an asian girl an average wide hipped american chick and helga would have been appropriate. the models need to be similarly sized to the male counterparts otherwise they're effectively cheating.
your asking for a huge load of work and some people are even speculating it as a free download?

the rpg's most people are citing are single player affairs. NOT competitive multiplayer.

the list goes on. females will not be represented this time round, but like so many other games that had to ditch women, the sequel is another thing. then the core of the game is established, which leaves more time and budget to make a wider variety of stuff...not to mention the stuff already made that just needs tweaking.

I voted i'ma guy and dont care because as long as they do not have to dumb down or sacrifice anything I really dont care but if they do have to sacrifice saying customization options like they have stated then I don't want female characters in game I would rather have more options to be my own unique character.

That quote sums up my thoughts on this issue rather well. This thread pops up multiple times every month, and frankly, its gets quite annoying to see the female basher's and new forum female try argue on the debate. Not trying to be rude, but most of these get very, very intense, and usually result in a lock.

Just try to keep everything calm and civil, please and thank you. :spotted owl:

As I've said many times, I would love to see females in the sequel.

Oh, of course, I'm a girl gamer and I would love my gender to represented---especially in a game that has (and brags about) deep customization.

This kind of thing matter a lot to me, so I'm picky about games.
I especially love games with customization and character development, so I always look at whether I can be female or not first thing in those kind of games
Most of the time, nowadays those games with customization tend to have gender as the first choice, which is pretty awesome. Brink is one of the few that doesn't, so
I'm hoping for the sequel....

As guys we can go on and on and on about "they'd just be objectified / overly sixualised", and that view is based on past experiences indeed. I'm not debating that.

However, look at the poll. Every single woman who has voted wants there to be female characters in game. None of them want to play as males, or don't care either way.

In all honesty, since there are significant numbers of females in the official armed forces of the world today (let alone in gangs) think what it would be from highly forward-thinking 'first-worlders' and ragtag groups of refugees in 2045. Impossible to ignore.

So, I think it's unfortunate and definitely should be added in free (definitely, definitely free) DLC, as I also do understand the developers' position and the cold hard facts of the game.

Hmmmmm, I wonder WHY it keeps popping up, eh, lol? Is it because *whisper* most female gamers want to play (female characters)? And that this game is
kind of (in?)famous for being a Dude Island, especially in a game that has "deep" customization, lol?

Uuhhhhhhhhh..... like with all of the recent people complaining about the lack of Team Death-match, No-OHK's, No Snipers, No K/D's, etc, etc, lol.
It's probably because people have just recently heard about the game and came to the forums to ask questions for information and/or opinions.

Female gamers may be just finding out about this Dude Island (yes, I should name it that forever in my mind, lol!) game just like those other
newbies. *shrugs*

..even the women. My boyfriend and I can't wait for Brink. We love to play together, and we have it preordered. However, we haven't seen one screen or video of girl characters. What gives? The developers make a big point to say that, in Brink, you are not just a generic protagonist - there is a slew of customization options for your character designed so that we can create a character that we feel reflects us. How can us girl gamers create a character that represents us if there are no female characters to choose from? If there are, then awesome and I can't help but think they should have advertised it. If there aren't any female characters, I would love at least some DLC so I can create a character I can truly identify with. Maybe if we speak loudly enough, Bethesda will hear us. I think it's silly that, in this day and age, we still have to be males in games like this. So, even if you're not a girl gamer, let's hear what you have to say on the subject of female representation. Would you like to see it in Brink? No? Don't care?

If you are a "Gurl gamer" im afraid your opinion is invalid.

If you are just a girl who plays games, i would suspect you would not care about this aspect.

But hey, what do i know, im just an idiot who doesnt give a damn when my pixels dont look 100% the way i want them to.

Yeah, I heard that. A. Lot. But, the Brink devs said they originally wanted women and even had ideas to implement them. It's a time/resources thing as stated by the devs, by the
people on this forum, and everyone else on this thread many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many (I can keep going with this forever) ...........times, lol.

EDIT: For people who don't care about what their characters look like---- that makes nooooooo sense to me, since one of the biggest factors of Brink (and
why they don't have females and why [male] members keep bringing up why there are no females and prefer it that way) is the ability to play dress-up.

Listen, I can keep stating the same facts over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over forever if you want since this is a personal topic for moi, lol. B)

I think we should just be thankful for what the SD did give us and we should trust that they did what they thought would be best for the gamers.

We can only hope that female characters can come out sometime later. There's nothing we can really do now...the game's coming out in 3 weeks...

If its a personal topic why are you making it public?

Second, i want my charecter to be a giant reptile man with giant claws and teeth.

They dont HAVE the option to make Lizard-man?

whoop, time to march out on a "Splash damage hates lizards" campaign.

Also: Team fortress 2 did this.

No one complained.

Black ops did this.

Damns were not given.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R did this, in fact there were no women in that game at all.

Guess how many people cared?

0.

It would appear you are in the minority.

And the minority, in a democracy, is ignored over the majority.

Um, okaaaay. I made it public because.... this is....a public forum? Or is this a private forum that I'm not aware of, lol?

I'm not flaming the game or anything, soooooo what is the problem? I'm just stating what the devs said many times before?
Black Ops didn't really have much customization and it's a modern "realistic" war-game setting, so that's why no one's complaining about that.
It's just most games that have "deep" customization have gender nowadays as a choice, just saying, lol.

And why do people think girls/women hate things when they just want to be part of the boys' club, lol?
And with your tone, I have a feeling maybe.....this may be a personal topic for you, too?

And, yes, I am aware of us females being the minority in gaming. (I'm a Hispanic female, so I reeeeeeally know what it's like to be a minority, thank you, lol. ;) )
But, got to start somewhere in this boys' club or else females will continue to be intimidated by the intense gaming community, hee.
