Gah! Get away from me!
Yeah!
No respect, I tell ya...
Drunk fool.
This brings back so many memories!
Hmm? What? Huh?
What do you think you're doing?
Um... Er.. Oh um.
None of my business, okay?
Ummm...Hi.
Just like the old days, HAHAHAHA!
Great, here's some of the local wildlife.
I wouldnt hold your breath girl, Im quite content.

I think I got enough for all now, excluding unique NPCs, ghouls and children, which I'm not going to do anything with. Well, ghouls maybe.

Hilarious. I really can't believe you're going to actually release that. I would definately get it, though.

I just added some of the old male dialogue in the GECK for a little testing round and it seems to be working fine. There doesn't seem to be any good way to completely override the normal hello's so there's always a chance that an NPC doesn't react to your lack of clothing, but the more reactions I add the smaller the chance is that this happens.

Almost done. All the options were added for all the different male and female voices, excluding ghouls and children. I just have to test it a little more to make sure nothing odd happens. Like the people in Tranquility Lane or in the beginning of the game in Vault 101 thinking your naked, or something like that. :P

I'll write up a little release thread when it's done. I just recorded some video for it, only to discover afterwards that the sound recording was off!

I'll try again and post a little video then. :P

I have only one thing to say. Windows Movie Maker,

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. :brokencomputer:

The thing refuses to save my video. I tried to look for a solution but it's not working. So it's getting released without a video. Too bad.

This is a great idea. :)

Seems it could be expanded a wee bit to include NPC reactions to a number of things (including Nudity). I have to admit I've done this 100 times myself, as I always play in 1st person mode and I don't use VATS, so I miss it.

Sure!

A few things actually, some seedy some not:

1. Have the response to the player based on the players Charisma and lack/presence of the Lady Killer/Black Widow perk. If the player is beautiful or charismatic, the NPC might comment something along those lines. If the player downright gross and not charismatic, the NPC might make a joke at the player or start laughing out loud. :) In general the player's appearance (while nakked) should have an impact on the Type of response we get. Ghouls should say something truely obscene. ;)

2. If the player is wearing BoS or Enclave power armor, they might react in some way to that fact - wastelanders would run away or perhaps cower in fear when an Enclave trooper walks into the room, and might start clapping or giving free drinks to someone who looks like a member of BoS. Kinda the opposite of the nakked response, here the NPC would be responding to what they would Perceive the player to be (based on armors/clothing).

3. If the player is poisoned or diseased, the NPC might make a comment about the smell or perhaps scream out, "Plague!" and run off. In this respect the NPC would be reacting to the players condition. If the player is close to death, friendly NPCs might have a chance of running up to stabbing stimpack into your arm (imagine that!). Low health is just one physical condition the NPC might see and react to.

4. Use the player's Special's determine a potential reaction to the player. If the player has a super-low Agility, the NPC might say, "Didn't I see you trip up the stairs last week? Hahaha way funny". Or perhaps a low Intelligence might illicit comments about the player needing a clue, or perhaps a chance of handing the player a skill book and wishing him the best of luck with that clue, or something :hehe:

This could go a long, long way - and frankly improving NPC reactions is something that Bethesda is focusing on right now (per Todd Howards latest interview). If done right this would literally improve immersion and make the wasteland seem more real.

Good luck with this! I may post some of this in the New Vegas forums as things we would like to see as well if you don't mind.

Sounds interesting. Would be difficult to use recycled voice acting for that though, and adding actual actions would be very different from what NPCs currently do, which is just say a line of dialogue.

I tried to use some animations but for some reason most conversation animations only seem to work in actual conversations, and not in the quick 'hellos'. Which is too bad. There is this one line for the old male in which he's all enthousiastic and it would've been awesome if he could've clapped or cheered along with that.

There aren't really any diseases in Fallout 3, are there? Except for radiation/addiction. Still, some health based responses should be possible. If you see someone walking by with 1/10 of his health, bleeding and crippled, you're not going to be all cheerful and say 'Hi!'.

The special determined one would be fun too. It would be a bit like those Oblivion responses for high skill/attribute levels (Look at the muscles on you!/There's a charge in the air. Been casting destruction spells?).

Hmmmm good points. :) Actually I Have been hiding in Cyrodiil as of late, taking a bit of a vacation from working on my mod until New Vegas comes out (when I start making the conversion). But I digress, it is too bad that the animations are not more easily accessible - would take some serious scripting to make all this work. Still I love the basic idea of NPC's reacting to nvde players - its a good start and can grow from there!

Luck. :)

Like the comments about vampirism in Oblivion? Heavy health damage or severe radiation poisoning would be good canditates to this. Though not to Wadsworth level, who says "You seem to be wounded..." if you are missing 1 HP

Use a few damage noises from npc's. Like some people being hurt have a sort of response that sounds similar to a punch in the stomach escape of air like a "sigh" UHHhh....Would relate well to a naked ghoul. In the mean time, anything is decent since its not something the community has yet. You could also put out a call when your thread is up and have people send in lines of the stuff you want to put into your mod. I know that Nylonathathep for his mothership crew mod got a decent turn out for actors. =)

Have a list like this:

Putting a call for anyone wanting to voice act the following lines for me. In this xxxx format, mp3 etc etc length of time....

1-" blah blah blah" 3:21 / three minutes and twenty-one seconds.

2- "..........." 0:06 / six seconds

Choose any of the following and record in the time allotted the best you can and give the numbers listed in the response. Detailing which line you have voiced. The handle you wish for the credit to be given. ..............etc. =)

Oh dear FSM no! Those were the most annoying things in Oblivion. There's a mod out there that removes them, they're so annoying.

Now that I realize how annoying the Oblivion random conversation topics were (I've been playing it, though I think the most annoying of them all was, "Ahhh! You must be the arcane universities newest ....". In the end I had to disable him, I just couldn't take it anymore. :)

I agree that there is a definite line to avoid crossing when creating new NPC interactions...
