OOB style Fallout Mod?

Post » Sat Feb 05, 2011 5:01 am

I have personally played and beaten Fallout 3 several times (love it), and I am looking for a MAJOR overhaul mod akin to OOB, Warcry, FCOM etc. that Oblivion has to make the experience feel fresh and new.

Some things I want=
1. a ton more variety in monsters (MMM got this covered)
2. Deadlier combat (both monsters and PC die fast, I never use VATS its too easy with VATS)
3. New look, feel, quests
4. New items and gear

There any mods out there that package these together? Or can anyone suggest some cool mods for me?

Combat would be covered by FWE, it also includes Classic Fallout Weapons and includes the unused armors and weapons from Fallout 3. If you mainly want new gear, FOOK2 would be better, it includes plenty of new weapons, armor and clothing, but the gameplay is similar to unmodded Fallout. Neither (not completely sure about FOOK2) includes quests, and they don't work together nicely.

Well.... As far as I know (I am new to Fallout), you can cover this by a combination.
I'd use FWE (rebalancing and combat) + MMM (enemies) + eXcalibr - the Book of Earache (weapons, and adds a quest too)....
If you want quests, well i found lots of them in the nexus.
1. select category "Quests and Adventures" and/or "New Lands", then click "go" without typing a name;
2. sort by endorsemants, in descendnt order;
3. check and enjoy :P

The final combination should be the same as OOO + MMM for Oblivion, with more realism (FWE is different from OOO, you'll see, check https://sites.google.com/site/fo3wanderersedition/detailed-changes for details)
I hope I've been useful and good luck finding what you want :foodndrink:

EDIT: wording

I have since picked up FWE and MMM, and I will look for some sort of "repair" mod that avoids hacking similar weapons stack on each other. I found that aspect of Vanilla Fallout annoying as I felt all rifles and handguns should just break down into "parts" that can be used to repair others.

FOOK did look awesome to, a shame these 3 cant run together like FCOM for Oblivion.

FWE has you covered already. When you get to a certain level of repair skill (50, I think) you can create generic "repair parts" out of scrap metal that can repair anything except power armour. Just go to a workbench and the game will add a note when you're sufficiently skilled.
