It rocked. Todd seems to know what's going on and what people want, while at the same time sticking with a very principled vision of how the game should be. Spears are disapointing, but not game breaking for me. Plus he said no spears "in the classical sense", so I am hoping we will see some long slashing type weapons, like glaives, that will fall under the two handed skill and perks.

The skill and perks thing I am glad he explained. There are in actuality more options when it comes to skills, because each skill now has multiple perks under them. 280 perks, to be exact, so this to me seems like this game will have more than any other TES has had so far.

Eh maybe I'm being pessimistic but it seemed all bad news.

No spears.

Not bigger than Oblivion.

Removed class system.

Removed customized magic.

Less options when creating character.

List goes on and on =(

I agree with the magic and spears, though honestly these are minor issues to me.

I am glad they took out the class system. The way they describe it now, to me, sounds like the most realistic and intuitive. You can't master everything, because the skills you already trained will level you faster and you'd want to focus on a few skills to concentrate perks. So in reality you can have a 'class' if you want, it just doesn't force you into predefined roles.

He said they don't know about customized magic. He didn't say it's not going in. He also said you'll have more specific ways to customize characters rather than the "random button = ugly button" as in Oblivion even if technically there are less options/sliders.

How is the removal of the class system bad? I thought the podcast did quite well how just letting you develop your character with skills and perks as you progress makes more sense than an NPC randomly asking your class 30-45 min into the game.

You're right that spears sound unlikely, however he also described how the world will feel bigger than Oblivion due to the mountains. In addition, he mentioned how the different areas will be more distinct than in Oblivion, and how the architecture "will not look as if everything was pre-planned and built at the same time." like the Oblivion towns were.

How could they not have asked about attributes? Insanity! :flamethrower:

No spear in the classical sense - I guess the bardiche will be a two-handed axe, but will work similar to a spear. I could live with that.
280 perks sound nice, too.

We don't need two discussions on this - let's go with the earlier one please.
