Custom Weapon Skins

Post » Tue Feb 15, 2011 9:46 pm

So you are suggesting to add in pre-designed camo patterns and allow players to chose the colors that go into said patterns? If so than I would like either this or a very large variety of camos/ skins.

And for the people who think camos/ skins on weapons are pointless than let me ask you this, what is the point of choosing a desktop background for your computer? It is personal customization. I find it enjoyable and I know I am not the only one.

I don't think anyone would NOT want that option to add personal skins, but would be just as happy to change color on them. It's that IF adding that option to have a personal skin would svck resources from the game to the point of not really needing them so it can run smoother or put an extra emphasis on something else.

I think it would be awesome, have the Fallout skin then on the barrel have a neon green color and on the butt of the gun have a dark green. I think that would be so badass and add alot more to the customization.

If you check my post again, you'll see I wasn't against offering configuraiton options, I'm against the possibility of custom skinz (ie, using your own picture files instead of ones included in the game). An additional point against, as has been said, is it would use additional resources I'd rather the game not have to handle (let my bwidth be used to keep the game going as smoothly as possible...).

So uh, option to select from available gun skinz? Of course.
Provide one's own skinz? Hell no.

And uh, to an extent, select one's camo's colors? To a degree; as long as it's been well thought out so it doesn't let you break your faction's color palette...

Hey... just found some confirmed official info on this - recently posted in the SD forums... Bad news, unfortunately...

There's one skin per weapon per side, plus the pre-order bonus skins for the Bulpdaun and the CARB-9. If you're wanting to make them you're own, there's plenty of gun customisation to be had with our rather extensive attachment system. :)

Well that's some odd news. So there are no actual weapon skins?

Smells like DLC to me.

I seriously hope so. This is the first bit of news that I actually consider "bad news," and I'm a little surprised to hear it. One would think that with all of the other options we get, paintjobs would be something that we would get quite a few of.

EDIT: Aside from the release date push-backs, of course.

Given the clothing has so many, it certainly does.

It has to be something released in future patches/DLC. It seems like something that would be silly for SD to overlook with the amount of customization in almost every other field in your characters appearance.

And, I mean, we all would love to see a heavy with a Hello Kitty mini-gun.

They've said before that in a FPS, your gun is you. I would have bet money that we would see, if not the ability to color our guns ourselves, then a multitude of camo options, akin to the color options for the clothes and skins of our characters. Nevertheless, like I said over on the SD forums, it's not a huge issue. Just a slight disappointment and something I fervently hope they include in DLC.

This would be fine as long as it was only colors. And no goddamned pink.

It'd be nice to have customiseable emblems and gun skins BBUUUUTT then I remember what people in Black Ops have made. Give someone anonymity, free speech, and an audience, and he well abuse his free speech, piss off his audience, and sleep perfectly fine that same night.
Pricks.

No, we wouldn't all love it. How infantile and stupid would that be? It would be funny for about... no wait, not funny whatsoever. It would ruin the experience of the game, and the world the developers have toiled to bring into such rich existence.

I'm all for customization, especially the depth of the characters. But the amount you can customise your gun that we've already seen is plenty. We don't need more than a few developed skins for the guns.

I fear there may be a slight case of 'missing the point' going on here...

At least CoD had different camos for guns and I didn't have to use any of those, but could sport my standard-issue black (or sometimes beige) version.

Given that I prefer the basic colour-palette on my gun, this probably reduces the number of Resistance-weapon for me ...

I'd really hoped there was custom weapon skins. Don't really want a bright red Mossington, tbh.

Anyway. Seems odd to me that you can customize your looks, which you personally wont see while playing, but you cant customize your gun, which you will see.

i'm a little bummed with no weapon camo options, but its just flare so eh no biggie

It'll just give everyone something to beg for to be in the first DLC pack, since pretty much said theyll be some kind of addons later

itd be nice to spend $20 bucks on an expansion and it have more than a few new maps and a few more rehashed ones from a 4yr old game
