Printer Help

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 9:34 pm

I've been trying to figure out how to use my wireless printer all day and am quite stumped. I have the http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF06a/18972-18972-238444-12019-3328086-4083864.html printer. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am not going to be any help here, but printing wirelessly is a joke. It rarely works when you get it set up, and when it does work, for some reason you always have to change the printer, or turn the printer off and on. I have had many experiences with wireless printing, and none of them have been good...

Thanks for the quick reply DEFRON. :) I've gotten it to print remotely via an email sent to the printer from my computer but it doesn't seem very conventional. Is there a way for me to just Ctrl + P and have it print right away instead of having to open Microsoft Outlook every time?

Edit: @Septim007 It seems to be working fine now.

I was also wondering if it would be ok to leave my printer on 24/7?

On the same local network?

How to add a http://www.vista4beginners.com/How-to-install-network-printer. It may also just be in your networked devices, and simply double-clicking it's icon will install it.

If it doesn't find it for you, get the host name for your printer (if you don't know what it is, it'll be listed in your Router if it is currently connected -- It'll be either OfficeJet or HP something-or-another). Add a network printer like above, tell it that the printer wasn't listed, and add the printer using TCP/IP or Hostname. Enter the host name in the box and connect. You may have to manually install the driver, though.

The reason you want to connect by host name, and not IP address is in case your printer gets assigned a new address by your router for whatever reason.

If you don't mind it vampiring up the power

I've successfully added the printer to my network but it still doesn't print. All I get are error messages in the print queue.

Ok, I've called in customer service and they were able to resolve my issue. Mods can lock this topic now. :)

Curious as to what was causing the error and how it was resolved. Knowledge is power, afterall
