Honestly, from my standpoint...It is sooo hard to walk most of the time, and change your clothes, and eat and sleep and not fast travel. Makes everything more crazy and longer. I try as hard as I can though, like Dan-Za who is an assassin never wears his killing clothes in public unless he is up to no good. And kills anyone who sees him in them. Its annoying ot keep changing outfits and stuff. but I still do it haha

Well im planning on making a guy who was a soldier in ww3. You see. the poor guy while on a partol in a middke of a war he and his squad found something strange. (oblivion gate) However the radiation caused by small tatical nukes could have caused an illusion but there is no radoactivity. So the squad went into the gate. And while thier in the planes of oblivion the gate shut. After a while all of the squad exept my guy dies. And he found a way out. He ten passed out when he woke up he is surprised to be in a unfamiler land. (he's in Morrowind) Woundend and hungry some Dummers found him laying on the ground. They saved him and took him to a nearby village. After that it took him months to leave that village. (despite his attempts since he is scared of dark elves do too skin) After that he bought a sword and head to a place called Cyrrodil where he heard that people that look human lives. He was eventually thrown in Prison for murder. (he thought an argonian as a demon) And people believe he was insane do to how he talked about fighting in a different planet with unkown technology too advance for the extinct dwemmer. Still He is a good archer and swordsman. He tends to think before acting since killing the argoinian. Still he likes the human races. He is ok with all elves exept for the dummer. He hates the argoinians, Kahjiits, orcs, and dark elves because of the way they look. Im thinking of more ideas for him.

I just started my first true RP character,so far it's been...interesting,for me at least. His name is Rodron Odyn,he is a male Dunmer born under the Mage, which is convenient considering he is quite skilled in destruction magic already at his age (21).He also seems to have natural talent with a blade and also magic of a restorative nature.

I'm still learning a lot about him at this point, what I have learned so far is he's not very social, very fidgety and jumpy, always looking over his shoulder...like someone may be after him.He also seems to love the sky....everything about it,rain droplets on his face, the sun gleaming through the trees, and especially the moon(s) and stars. For 1 hour(in game) he just stood there under the stars in amazement...before finally calling it a night north of the imperial city.He had heard there was a "haunted inn" up around those parts,he didn't believe such rumors....until he got there

That's how i'm doing so far, needless to say i'm having a blast and looking forward to what happens next!

I wasn′t sure whether or not to launch a second RP thread. But I can see people still wants to discuss the matter, as do I, so here we go a second time around :)

My Dunmer Lothran keeps on roaming Cyrodiil, as he can′t get enough of wandering through the forests and meeting people he hasn′t seen for some time. He still stays in Bruma for the winter as he loves the mountains and the general peace offered to him there.
In summer he tends to his house in Bravil and keeps gathering alchemical supplies to take with him when he next winter goes to his winter wonder town. He has all his alchemical gear there and it′s perfect to boil up some potions while the cold wind relentlessly tries to blow his door wide open.

I hope you′ll continue to share your RP stories as I know many likes to read about them. Keep it up :foodndrink:

Edit: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1082413-roleplaying/. Lots of inspiration there :)

Is this character based on the main character from the new film 'Hanna' ??? becasue if it is that is a great idead :)

My approach to roleplaying is much more loose and less narratively involved, I suppose. I try to get a sense before I start my character of what kind of personality he might have, and then I try to play (and equip him with gear and abilities) according to that personality. If I find the game doesn't support my personality as well as I expected, I adjust as I go. (There's a fewer less smart-alecky dialogue options than I expected, for instance, often only offering one dialog choice or just a couple, between helpful and downright murderous...) Eventually, I find that my idea of my character is affected by the way I want to play as much as the reverse; I completed every guild questline mostly because I wanted to do all the content in the game, but I was able to justify it along the way by growing to understand my character as a smiling megalomaniac.

Beyond such superficial contributions of imagination, though (and more than a little time dressing him up like a doll, I must admit), I personally find it tough to roleplay in games like Oblivion because I can't get past the fact that the NPCs have so little dialog, shared between a few voice actors. It's hard for me to get attached to them, let alone see them as my character's friends; they feel more like props. Then again, I'm posting here lately for the first time because I just got Oblivion. Maybe I'd have a different perspective if I'd been playing as long as the regular posters here!

Since what you′re talking about is a new film and my character was created in Feb 2007, I′d go with ′no′. Besides I have no idea who Hanna is

my modded morrowind save has died, as has my pc in general, so I've come back to oblivion on the 360 for a bit of a roleplay centric play through.
This time i'm going for a fully magic-centric breton character, who will not so much as touch a sword, or attempt to swing a punch (most of my characters end up as battle mages, so this may be a challenge). I think I fancy blending in with the peseantry, probably around the imperial city waterfront (are there any other shack like abodes for sale in vanilla obliv?). I think he'll also be somewhat of an enthusiastic alchemist and trader. I think I may spend the first part of the game wondering around and working solely on my magic - travelling from town to town to find decent spells for each school, and then fighting the odd bandit and dipping into the odd cave or two.
I'm not big on backstories for my characters - I like to have a vague idea about his intentions and history, but nothing too in depth. With this one, I think I'll go for the ol amnesia view point - doesn't know who he is or why he ended up in prison - just knows that he seems to be quite adept with a fireball, and has a desire to learn about the mysterious world he is in (all my characters seem to be big-time history/book fanatics : P)

While there are no other shacks for sale, you may find the vanilla houses for sale in Bravil or Leyawiin to be modest enough to suffice.

Long ago, in a distant land isolated from the rest of the world by giant mountains, in the great forest which filled the country, lived a race of Elves in peace. Their skin was smooth and clean, and even though they could live for half a millennium, they would not grow old and weary. The Elves were ruled by a king and a queen, whose beauty had no match. They ruled the Elves fair, and were very loeved by their people. On a silent night, only illuminated by the stars, the queen gave birth to a beautiful daughter. She was named El'dórae, which meant Silverflower in the language of the Elves. At age 5, she was already exploring the great forest alone, for she was born under the sign of the Thief, which had shone brightly the night she was born, so she had a natural curiosity, and were good at climbing trees and jumping over small streams which tied the forest together in a web of running water. Her parents feared not for her safety, the forest was safe for the Elves to wander, since they had a pact with the nature and animals. A pact of peace.

The little princess were free to go everywhere but one place. Her father had warned her about the top of the Royal Tower, where the Archmage of the Elves resided. He told her that there existed magical doors to other dimensions and far away countries, and that they were no places for a young princess to go. But one night, as bright as the night where the princess was born, she could not sleep. She just kept thinking about the magical doors which were at the top of the tower she called home. She sneaked up to the door which lead to the Archmages chamber, and using one of her hairpins, she picked the lock of the door. When she opened the door, she was greeted by the most amazing sight she'd ever seen. Everywhere were objects spinning, whizzling, squeekng, and whistling. Some of them hovered in the air, others drove around on 4 wheels on a track, blowing up small rings of smoke from it's chimney. The sight had her paralyzed for a second, then she began inspecting all of the weird objects. None of them turned out to be doorways to other dimensions, so she went further into the top of the tower. In the next room, she found the Archmage sleeping in a bed. At the end of the bed were placed a giant bookshelf, filled with books of all the colors of the rainbow. Some even glowed slightly. She began inspecting the titles of the books, many had names she'd never heard about before, some even had letters on that she couldn't read.

Then she got to a certain shelf. It consisted of books which titles only contained one word. She skimmed the titles on the ridge of the books, but stopped at one particular book. It had the letters "MORROWIND" printed on the ridge. She took a quick glance at the Archmage, whom were sleeping deeply. Then she took out the book from the shelf and opened it.

. . .

The next thing she remember is standing in a dark and foggy forest. At first she thought she were in the forest at home, but something was noticeably different about this forest. It had a different aura, the trees didn't whisper in friendly tongues, and it was cold as the deepest night. The princess, freezing cold, alone, and not knowing where she was, sought shelter in a hollow tree. There, hidden from the evil forest around her, she fell into a dreamless and dark sleep.

She was awoken by a loud howling, which sent chills down her spine. Outside the hollow tree, in the darkness, she saw 3 pairs of red glowing eyes. She stood up, and pulled out a piece of crystal she had in her pocket. The crystal was mined from the deep mountains which surrounded her home country, and had been charged with the gift of sun- and moonlight. The crystal threw a clear light at the 3 wolves which had surrounded the entrance to the hollow tree. They took a step back by the sight of the clear and pure light, but suddenly they jumped at the little princess. All she could do were to gasp before the wolves bit into her pure flesh.

The wolves didn't kill her. They just bit her and clawed her for hours, until all she could do were to lie on the ground, silent as the grave with blood streaming from all the wounds the wolves had made on her body. She wished to be home, to never had let her curiosity make her open that book. She thought it was her time to die, at an age of 5 years and 3 months. But faith had other plans. The wolves eventually decided to leave her alone, since she were no fun when she didn't scream or cry. There she were, on the ground, bleeding from almost everywhere in her body, when a strange elf approached her. He was darker and more rough looking than her, he was dressed in an armor of fur, and had a bow on his back. He carefully lifted the wounded princess up, and carried her away.

When the princess awoke, she were in a bed in something that looked like a brick house. The elf who had carried her away were sitting near a fireplace, polishing arrows, not noticing the little girl at all. She took a look at her body, and as if done by magic, all her wounds had disappeared, not leaving a trace of scar tissue. The elf at the fireplace finally noticed the girl had awoken. He stood up, and walked over to the bed, where he knelt to get down face to face with the surprised girl. He told her that his name was Missun Akin, and that he had found her in the forest, bleeding everywhere after the wolf attack. He also told her that he had carried her back to the Falasmaryon Stronghold, where he was residing. her wounds had magically disappeared while she were sleeping, and he had guarded her all night. The princess told him the whole story about how she had ended up in the forest, but he had never heard about a country like the one she described to him as her home.

The princess stayed at the stronghold for 15 years as Missuns apprentice. It turned out that he was a great bowman, and the princess had a natural talent for bows, and showed great athletic skills when they were hunting together in the mountains. The princess quickly learned that the pact of peace with the nature that she were used to from home did not count in the land of Morrowind. She became a master with a bow, and didn't even flinch by killing a troll with a single poisoned arrow to the head at the end of her apprentice period. During her time at the fort, she lived among the guards, whom she found herself to enjoy the company of a lot. She dined with them, and gladly went along with them when they were out patrolling. She were as respected as she were loved, since everyone knew that she was deadly with a bow. During the years, she grew up to become a beauty. She didn't look older than 13 at the age of 20, but had an aura of advlthood around her, which combined with her cheeriness and tomboyish personality, made her a great guest at drinking parties with the guards. She gained a taste for liquor, the only thing which could make her forget the pain she always had when she thought about her real home. And she always thought of it. She even dreamed about it. She could drink a whole lot more than even the biggest of the guards, and had gained the title of "Ale Belly of Falasmaryon".

But one night, where the rain were drenching everything in wet blackness, the princess grabbed her bow, a leather suit, 50 steel arrows, a sack of food, and went for the stronghold stables. There she stole a horse, and made off unnoticed into the night, her mind set on only one goal; to find her home. She rode for 14 days and 14 nights, until she reached the harbor of Khuul. There she sold her horse for a bit of money, and got on the first ship that were heading away from Morrowind. After a journey of 3 years, the ship hit port at the Imperial City in the land of Cyrodiil. The princess, recognizing the architecture of the Imperial Palace as her own peoples architecture, got off the ship and headed for the Waterfront.

From that point, things didn't go so well. To survive, the princess had to steal, but since no shop would accept stolen goods as payment, the princess were reduced to a beggar who also provided certain services to the men of the Imperial City for nearly no gold. One night, where she were sleeping in the abandoned shack at the Waterfront, one of the other beggars approached her with a sweet smelling bottle of liquid. He told her it would make all her sorrows go away. The princess, who already depended on alcohol to get through the day, took a generous sip, and blacked out.

The next morning she awoke in jail. She couldn't remember a thing, not even her own name, nor why she were in jail. The Skooma she had drunk the night before had made her go crazy, and she had killed one of the other beggars by strangling him. The guards had arrested her for homicide, and now she were there. But it would not be long before her life would take a turn, once again...

Well I′ve just started up a new character that I think might be interesting to RP, an Imperial named Tyrelus. Was going to make him something like your average sword′n′board, heavily armored, goody two-shoes, knight fella. however, upon exiting the sewers I accidentally made him into the standard "scout" class!
Not realizing my mistake until it was too late I was just about to reload a previous save when I thought "WTH, I′ll give it a try". Said and done, I head over to Vilverin, sneak up on the bandits, kill them and get a somewhat more class-appropriate armament (dagger and a bow). Then it came to me, this guy looks like he′s seen some action already (he′s middle aged and somewhat scruffy looking), maybe he was in the legion, someone has to scout for them right?
So now we′re here, I′ve got myself an ex-legion scout with some problems in the past (he was in prison after all) and a god-awful skill set, should be interesting to learn more about him.

Any and all constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated as I′m sorta green when it comes to RPing (only done it a couple of times before and not for very long)!

Well I have to say I like your idea. Of course they have to have scouts, and why not him? You can always make a knight too if you want, but to me that scout is much more interesting.
Always keep in mind though that you equip him as you started; with appropriate stuff. No heavy armor and a giant claymore even if you may be tempted. After all, restrictions is a key thing in RP.

Enjoy! :)

You know you RP when you spend hours decorating your house, and choosing and buying decorative elements at the Market District (powered with Better Cities, plus some other mods).

I must say, though, that I really love those changes of pace. Not doing always "slash, slash, slash" or "sell loot, sell loot, sell loot" is when you realize you're REALLY roleplaying.

Oh, yes indeed. Lothran has spent so many hours with me decorating his house in Bruma and it′s an ongoing process. We love it when we set up things that gives the house "that little extra" :)

Agree to this too. If you do that you′re just playing the game which is fine for sure, but when you stand somewhere and just breathe in the atmosphere and think about what to do next.... so sweet

Well, Cayo (at last) has also accomodated himself in Castle Wolfspike (the southern one of the two castles he has), apart from only Castle Seaview (which has been his only home until now), and with the help of http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=33996, he's decorating his room little by little (replacing some chairs with better ones, some tables, a throne replacing the chair behind his working desk (which he has also added to Seaview), some statuettes...).

Ah, and look also http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/6123/detailp.jpg he found in the same shop. It fits in his Seaview' bedroom (which is near Anvil) just perfectly, don't you think? :)

Hehe, I've got some big plans for my Anvil's bedroom. I want to make it different from the one in Wolfspike (well, they are different already, but a bit more). I'll surely put http://tesnexus.com/downloads/images/23612-2-1239001207.jpg on it (the complete set, with curtains, bed, tables, chairs, etc). It looks just soo lovely and cozy...

Well, of course, that when he returns from his current "no-turning-back" 12-level mission :)
