Pre order gripes

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:08 am

Why do we need different platform exclusives at all? If Bethesda wanted to incensitize preorders for Brink, why not lump all they have to offer into one thing? Correct if Im wrong but wouldnt 2 guns,4 weapons skins, 4 shirts and hats and tatoos make a better preorder package? It also kinda svcks for some people who dont have say a Walmart near them or best buy, so they couldnt get psycho or fallout.

Order online? Fairly certain those stores have websites.

Psycho is on amazon so everyone can get it

I agree and equally dislike the whole pre-order scam, im not too sure its all on the Dev/Producers though
im betting those wonderful stores we buy them from have the biggest influence on the whole exclusive content

I was happy back in the day just feeling bad about not being able to afford the Collectors Editions, i could go without companies playing tug of war with my meager desicion making abilities

Since gamespot and best buy only do midnight releases when it suits their best interests I have become a WAL-MARTER simply for the convenience. Besides with the spec ops pack you get a sic mask with a pistol/red dot combo. Yea! I switched from Best buy because I could not get it at midnight. . .

You know what wouldve made more sens, just put the damn items into the game for unlocking. I would be interested to see if SD will release weapon/apparel packs........not a bad idea.
ANother issue I would like to address, why are pc game cheaper than console games? Its almost enough to make me buy it on steam instead of getting it for 360.

I don't like preorder packs either, but I don't see how SD would be able to implement Fallout gear into Brink, and I can't live without my Vault Boy tattoo. :fallout:

I wish they would just release the packs later for a small price. That wouldn't be too bad. I'm not a big fan of exclusive items, but it makes things better when everyone has the opportunity to get it an some point.

Yeah not sure, not ALL games are cheaper but most of them are, production costs maybe, i dont really know
but to get a comp that can play Brink i think youll prolly need more than the $300 for PS3 or Xbox, so i guess a $10 discount is nice for them $20 if you DL from D2D i think

Well if you Pay for the Day of Shipping or w/e im thinking u have a good chance of getting it ontime, since its really UPS or w/e that u have to worry about

that being said when i ordered a TV from walmart i did the ship to store for free deal and people really had NOTHING good to say about it, and Walmarts says itll get here between Apr 25 - 29 soo no to specific on tht either

sooooooo that prolly wasnt too helpful in making a desicion sorry

thts why i hate this preorder nonsense

fortunatly, I do have a stupidly powerful computerI can understand them wanting different packs but why couldnt they say "there are four packs, when you preorder from xxxx retailers you pick one"- that way no matter what your preferance is you can get what you want.

We do get a bonus, it's called better connection.
I'm done, no console war, just had to make that remark.

Just a senario: the closest walmart to me is 14 miles away. If I preorder on their site, which estimates release day delivery, will the game actually come that day. If Walmart(Im assuming here) gets all its copies of Brink a few days in advance, would ups deliver it to me(14 miles away) on may 10th?

Yeah, don't care for preorder bonuses, but more specifically don't care for store exclusives.

Oh well, nothing I can do.

Probably bc certain companies paid more money for their pre order bonus options (thinkin the ones that give you actual wpns over skins) to get a larger market share. The retailers arent interested in evening out the amount of sales, theyre interested in gettin a bigger piece of the pie

Because the game is the same price everywhere and is fixed, stores have to give you an incentive to choose their store. I know you all realize that. Thats where the bonus packs come in. I preorder at Gamestop anyway, but also wanted the Doom Pack over the others, so
it is a win win for me. But most games releasing now have exclusive content.

just a tip(if you are European)

http://www.direct2drive.co.uk/ sells Brink for 30 £ and using the "bunny" easter promotion it will go down 25% and the pack you get is aweseom :)

cheapest place to get your games

I went Direct2Drive and it was an easy choice for a few reasons.
1. I wanted the Psycho Pack Anyways
2. From what I've heard it's the cheapest buy for PC. [use code "Bunny" at checkout for a whopping 25% off]
3. They give you a steam code to add it to your account, effectively making it just as good as ordering from steam itself.

Im not keen on them either. I like it when theres just one pack for every place. Thats nice but when theres multiple it usually svcks. Especially because in the UK we only ever really get 1 choice maybe 2 if Amazon has an offer going. But either way Im getting my copy from steam and the Spec Pack from there is the one I want anyway :) So Im not really going to complain :D
