Community movie

Afternoon lads !

So I was reading some topics on the forums the other day and was thinking about how cool Brink fragmovies would look like compared to other games
I've also seen numerous threads from people that want to play Brink with their friends but they are having a hard time convincing them.

So I was thinking of creating a movie from players here on the boards that we use to promote the game to our friends and others who might be interested in Brink.
I've noticed that a lot of people are going to play with a lot of different characters. Wraith as a backstabber , Revoluzzer the heavy if I'm correct , others a medium medic like myself , I dunno.

Ofcourse we would need some people who are decent with programs such as Sony Vegas and the likes. Recording shouldn't be much of a problem with the recording function (on PC at least , don't know how you console guys do it, prolly some 3rd party hardware I suppose ?)

What do you think ? Good / bad idea ?. Do-able ?

cheers

Sounds fun, I don't know how to make frag movies but I can look it up.
Alternatively I (and others) could put up short clips on youtube, then you could make them into a montage.

Then again, it's not about the frags, so maybe it'd be better if 16 people on the same platform went into one match, recorded their side of the story (with their own voice over), and we put them together in such a way that the video ( minus introduction and epilogue) lasts the same length as the match.

The starting cutscenes could be annotated to show which player is which.

I'm more on the Light side of life, but that's not a deal breaker, is it? ;)

As a soon-to-be-professional Cutter/Video Editor, I can do that job.

Recording on PC is easy, obviously. Fraps for people who bought it or XFire for the freeware-crowd. ;)

As for consoles, people would have to use a Blackmagic Intensity or Haupauge HD-PVR for recording.

Which, gasp, I just happen to have said Haupauge, have almost no idea how to use it, but I do have one.

From what I've gathered so far, you connect your console HMDI with the HD-PVR, connect the HD-PVR HDMI with your TV and connect the HD-PVR to your PC as well (make sure you have some GBs of harddrive space over).

Then, while playing, you start the HD-PVR from your PC so it records the console-HDMI-output to your PC-HDD.

I know all that. Lemme rephrase, I know how to use it, it's just that my desktop and TV are on different floors, so I have to use my macbook which I don't think even has HDPVR software. On top of that the normal windows gives you this messed up HD format that can only be used by Sony Vegas which I don't have.

That's great, Revoluzzer! ^_^

I should be able to provide on the help front, be it direction, frags, or voiceovers. I've been acting for many years now.

Does it actually need the software? Can't it just shovel mpeg2-files on your HDD?

You need a medium, I tried using iMovie but.... it didn't work :(
I'll probably look into it some more, maybe I'll figure something out in 17 days.

I don't think it would be doable because alot of people don't own a capture card or haven't bought FRAPS or another game recorder for PC. And I don't think people are gonna buy them just so they can help make a video

I know the website, and have watched gaming videos on it. I don't know any more than that though, why? Do they have a program?

I actually have both Fraps and a PVR, lol. Except my XCM converter box is broken, so I can't record stuff off of my computer monitor (where I like to play Xbox). And if you can do the editing, then that is good. I have NO idea what I'm doing with video editing, lol.

If my TVbox would work, I'll probably end up doing a short review on Brink, just so people can see the game, but most my plans for reviews are on the older games and consoles. But, I gotta say I like the idea, I feel like the game needs to be more advertised even though we are getting alot more people on the forums here.
