Theory: Skills and increasing your latent stats. Radiant sto

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:24 am

I think attributes might be hidden but what governs these stats will be your skills, for example if you focus on Warrior Skills alone you'll have a lot of strength(atck) and endurance(hp) same goes with Stealth focusing on agility(fatigue) and speed(speed...) and Magic focusing on intelligence(magicka) and willpower(regeneration). I understand why you might want to give your pure mage Strength Attributes but does that really make sense when your really focusing on just magery? No.

So I think attributes will be there, but it will be hidden and be governed by what you do and not what you want. Which might lead to how radiant story works considering that also works off of what you DO and if your doing alot of "Stealth" you're probably going to be given stealth like quests and if you are going to be focusing on WARRIOR well same applies... Then there is always the Jack of all trades which could be the weaker character to build but the strongest character once leveled.

WARRIOR
Strength
Affects your total encumbrance, your total Fatigue and the damage done by melee attacks.
Endurance
Affects your total Fatigue as well your starting health and your health gain upon leveling up.

STEALTH
Agility
Affects your total Fatigue, damage dealt by ranged weapons, and your steadiness in combat.
Speed
Affects how fast you move.

MAGIC
Intelligence
Affects your total magicka.
Willpower
Affects the rate at which magicka regenerates as well as your total Fatigue.

Theory: Personality was probably merged since it could easily just be governed by speechcraft. I think luck will be seperate and pretty much be governed by items that say "Wearing this will increase your chances with example: Gambleing../Coin../Rare Drops..ect.
Personality
Affects your ability to gain information and better prices from NPCs.
Luck
Affects everything you do in a small way.

I also think skills such as "Destruction" will govern how much damage your spells do and not just govern the expense of magicka. There might be a complex math to it.. such as Dmg of spell = Overall Magic*Destruction+ Type of Spell. (Fire, Shock, Frost)

Thoughts and how this might be plausible?
Add to this please :)

Personally I don't think we'll have attributes. Based on the knowledge that after a level raise we'll gain a certain amount of health and be given the option to manually choose either: more health, magicka, or fatigue. Attributes wouldn't be as necessary, as they were mainly used to raise heatlh, magicka, and fatigue. They were how used for other things, besides what I mention but I'm now wondering if perks will play the role of attributes now as well. Maybe now you can choose a perk to enhance how much you can carry, spell resistance, ability to regain magicka, how fast your fatigue regenerates, etc. That's my theory.

I think we will have them, but we do not have the attribute raising on level up as it happens automatically, might even happen on skill increase not level up.
They also develop characters, with no attributes and no acrobatic everybody can carry just as much, don’t mater if you are a big orc or a bosmer lady, everybody run and jump just as well.
I think this will be pretty lame, yes it might be a good idea in a MMO, as a fight between a melee character and a archer the archer will win if he is faster. In a single player game this is different and a way to differentiate characters. Personally I want Morrowinds jumping back because the insane fun factor.
