Working Spell Delete Mod?

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 8:54 pm

So I downloaded two different Spell and Item delete mods... The item delete portion seems to be working, but I'm unable to delete my spells. Can anyone link me to a known working version?

Yes I'm using OBSE, and OMOD.

Thanks.

Use the one in COBL or (the most downloaded spell delete mod) Expanded HotKeys and Spell Delete: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5957

Edit: Some special "spells" are hard to delete though...

Cobl has a spell delete feature. Everyone should be using Cobl anyway :P

I'm obviously a terrible person, then. ;)

The classic http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=1880 still works for me. Scruggs pulled it from Nexus, I don't know why... all the "alternatives" are filled with extra hotkey functions that I don't want. It's only got one minor, well-documented issue as far as I know... you can't create a new spell with the same name as one you've deleted. (Which you wouldn't have been able to do anyway.)

Or use FormID finder or Refscope to find out the spell formID, then use console command 'player.removespell '. You can delete spell without using any 'spell delete' mod.

Also there's SkyRanger-1's http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22984 mod too. Works just fine.

I actually had the same problem as the OP, and none of these worked. At all. I finally just gave up and used the above mentioned console command, an actual functioning spell delete mod doesn't seem to exist anywhere.

Wrye Bash can delete spells too. Go to the Saves tab, right-click on a save and pick 'Delete spells...'

Expanded Hotkeys is an obsolete mod, Super Hotkeys is far superior to it. While it doesn't have a spell delete function, Hov's Hotkeys does.

Why would you not want more hotkey options? I'm using Super Hotkeys, Hov's Hotkeys and Hotkey Casting, with almost every key on my board being used as a hotkey for something. Some, like the 1-8 keys, have multiple uses per key with the use of a modifier key. The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned.

Unless I'm horribly mistaken, this is the best option because it purges the spell from the save, allowing you to use the name again. And if it doesn't, you can at least rename the spell in Wrye Bash to something you wouldn't ever use(like OMGLOLWTFBBQ Blast. Though that would be a fun spell if it does what it says on the tin)

OMGLOLWTFBBQ Blast

Isn't that the new Mountain Dew flavor?

Dunno. I haven't seen any new flavors of the dew, but then again, I live in Canada, and we no longer have Mountain Dew: Code Red, yet I'm sure it's still available in the states.

Though I could go for a glass of the dew right about now.

Hmm, you know, maybe I should check if it works the way I want it to. Wrye Bash's Spell Delete, I mean.

Both Cobl's and Skyranger's Spell Delete allow you to reuse the name.

Also, Mello Yello for the win... Cherry Mello Yello for losing so hard it becomes recursive... Orange Mello Yello for a war crime...
