I notice alot lately when I surf the net in Windows Explorer 8.0.7..... that when I surf sometimes, I get in the left side, a border, or box like shape. Before it would stay and I would only have like a 3/4 of the screen the left side would be like an empty box but now, I don't get that, but it does show up a bit and dispears then.

I know I upgraded my laptop with the latest Service Pack for Windows 7 64bit, but I am not sure if that has something to do with it, or it could be something else. Anyone know what it could be?

I think you mean Internet Explorer, Windows Explorer is the file manager on Windows systems. In any case though can you be more clear of what is on the side that is now missing? Could you be accidentally hitting the key combination to show/hide the history or bookmarks bar (if it appears the same way on Internet Explorer as Firefox) or do you perhaps have an addon not playing nicely?

To determine if it is an addon click Tools and then Manage Add-Ons and disable things from there to see if that helps. If you don't have that option try looking in the actual Options menu for something related to the add-ons.
