[RELz] Iguanas

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:59 am

I uploaded a update on nexus. The old version bug could crash the game if Iguana items (frozen, eggs, ...) are removed by force from the player. It is solved in v0.95.

A short overview about the other changes:
The time check routine for the frozen ones is redone. It was a suggestion from Martigen (thanks). It helps to reduce the CPU time per Iguana.
The Iguana kill quest advancement is corrected.

And here the most important change in this release: A updated Iguana model!!! Now the animations work almost perfectly.

Actually I wanted to wait with this update till the grammar check is done. But because of the potential game breaking bug I release it earlier. If there are no more bugs found the next version is v1.0.

Update Instructions:
Simply copy the new files over the old ones. Check if your load order is still correct and just to be 100% sure wait four days as described in the install instructions.

I saw the thread title and thought it would just be a mod that adds Iguanas to the wilderness. It's not much, but worth a download for sure.

Isn't it great to be wrong sometimes? :P

edit:

Ah, you're the same guy who made the slavery overhaul. I didn't even notice it until I heard your voice in the demonstration video, explaining the features of the mod, instead of just using text. You're the only modder I know that does that. :D

Nice video. With the music and the comments it's just like some sort of national geographic documentary. Especially 2:40-2:45. :P

@povuholo
I learned a lot from the oblivion community about mod presentation and I also like video making. So I simply combined my two hobbies. The documentary style was made unconsciously I simply thought it fits and it is funny.

@HugePinball
I personaly don't ask for votes in my descriptions and readmes. It's something that the downloader should decide for them self. But I am glad to see how much this annoying little critters are liked.

@all
Thanks for the positive feedback.

great mod.

I have a request though !

Could you make a alternative version with only non aggressive iguanas ?
and also make their feet more or less silent ?

Reason - there is a hell of a lot of these little guys and the noise of their tramping feet is a bit overwhelming. Why friendly ?... cause for me it seems more realistic that something so small wouldnt go attack something as large as a human.

In a hostile wasteland... i just want some friendly creatures around ...

I lower the sound volume in the next update. About non aggressive: Why not choose the Animal Friend Perk? They are peaceful if you have it.

About realism: also iguanas have to eat ;) and I spawn a few aggressive (their hunters) and a few cowardly every time. The cowards don't like you because you mostly kill their friends but they don't attack.

You have obviously never had a pet iguana, I had one for about 10 years, they get around six feel long and will attack humans, dogs, cats and even their vet. Young iguanas will usually run but full grown advlts aren't generally afraid of that much as they can do a lot of damage with their tail and their claws are razor sharp unless you keep them cut.

6 feet long !. wow i had no idea. my experience with lizard type creatures has all been under 3 feet. If a 6 foot long lizard came up to me Id definitely be very cautious.

still the little guys in the mod are only 1-2 feet in length, so for me I prefer them not to be as hostile. No biggie..I tweaked the mod to have non hostile iguanas for my game.

The Wastelands are really a huge world for such a small animal... :unsure:

:goodjob: Nice pictures. I love them!

Btw.
A new update is online. There are no great changes. Here the update notes:

The quest doesn't like me ;) . It was nothing mod breaking but the whole meaning of the story was compromised if you did it in a specific order. This is now corrected. I also added a key (not that this one is important, but just for the fun of it). The most important change in this release is the better grammar of all the terminal texts, messages and dialogues. Thanks to kasugurami. Iguana feet are now not so loud anymore and the sound files can be now adjusted or removed if needed.

[edit]
Strange troubles with FWE have suddenly appeared. I have pulled v1.0 till the problem is solved.

A lot has changed in the new version 1.2 I uploaded a few minutes ago.

o The Iguanas are part of MMM RC6 now but only a subset of the features are included in MMM. The new FNNIguana - MMMRC6.esp makes sure that all features (raw, frozen and eggs) are available again and correct some bugs in the current release of MMM.

o The Iguanas have now new textures from skarmonyx. They look simply marvelous. So it is easy now to distinguish between MMM and base mod added Iguanas.
You can see them http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/images/13537-2-1283120237.jpg & http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/images/13537-1-1283120236.jpg.

o The sound of the Iguanas is now really lowered. The changes I did in an earlier version didn't work as expected. This is fixed now.

o Iguana food items satisfy now FWE hunger correctly bugfree!

o I added a animated grill which allows you to grill your own 'Iguana On a Stick' from 'Raw or Frozen Iguanas'

Very good idea. (But I will not grill frozen Iganas, seems a bit cruel, they are still living. :cry: )
Please can you hand over an extra-endorsemant to skarmonyx, the textures are really beautiful.
