Poll on Guilds, given what Todd said in the podcast.

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 8:02 am

If you haven't seen the GI podcast where Todd Howard went through a Q/A, he stated that some guilds would be making a comeback, but that all guilds might be implemented differently.

Which guild was your favorite from oblivion? Which new guild would you welcome most?

Last but not least, any speculation on how the new guild implementation might work?

I really don't like this poll. The second question should have multiple selections and the last one should have an (other) option

By story I liked the MG best. I would like the return of knightly order and werewolf hunters guild(if it won't be werewolves I go for vampires). I would like to get some artifacts for completing the story, like in MW after you finished the MG and temple they would bive you the artifacts that you had collected for them.
Edit: I would also like more types of guilds within one playstyle, like having both the College of Whispers, Synod and a cult of sorts, etcetera.

Well, the point of the second poll is to pinpoint which guild in particular stands out as the most desired. Multiple selections tends to average out the ratios.

Okay i get that. but as far as the third question goes i want more doors to open up when i become guildmaster. I don't want just a weekly income but weekly quests that would pertain to things a guildmaster would do.

and thats why there should be an "other" option

So many polls....so little time.

I like the part about how they get a little more into explaining radiant AI.

Add an actual hunters guild. They go after big game like mammoths, walrusses?, were-beasts, etc.

Dark Brotherhood was the best thing in Oblivion.

I'd like a Merchant's guild =D Recettear

Recognition. Not very well made I think.Who does fire you from the guild now that you've become the topmost?

To be honest, I don't like the sound of any the options in the second poll question. They sound pretty generic.

I'd prefer factions which are more tightly grounded in the culture and the setting of Skyrim. Nord clans, perhaps; or the native religion. There's way more scope for a natural but engrossing story.

And similarly for the guilds which do return - I'm presuming we'll see some guilds anologous to the Fighters Guild, the Mages Guild, and the Thieves Guild? I hope the storylines for these are tightly grounded in the culture and setting of Skyrim. Like they were in Morrowind.

This, can't add much else. More native factions, religious ones, and it would be nice if they conflicted. I hope this divide between the Synod and the College will be interesting.

To the last question I answered that I enjoyed unique artifacts the most, but I'd like to enjoy guild followers and recognition even more. Those thing haven't been well implemented in Morrowind or Oblivion. Even basic things, such as getting expelled from guild weren't right. How is it possible that you get expelled from the guild as easily when you are the leader of the guild as when you were at the lowest rank? I would expect that taking an apple from some doormat in the guild wouldn't always get me expelled if I'm the head of the guild.

I would like something more than people calling me their boss. I hope better AI will make this possible in Skyrim.

The important thing for me isn't so much which Guilds are in, but how they interact

By that, I mean that the Guilds should be, in some way, mutually exclusive. I don't think that a single player character should be able to simply breeze through each Guild on his way to becoming top dog in each. There needs to be much more politicking, back stabbing, betrayal etc going on between the factions. Fallout New Vegas made big steps forward in this, and hopefully Skyrim will have something similar.

I enjoyed the most the DB quests, but I didn't like DB as a faction either. I hope factions will be greatly improved. The merchants guild sounds nice.
The main reason for becoming head of a guild would be the management of the guild. I want guilds to be alive before and after I reach top position. I want to be able to send subordinates in missions. I want politics, blackmail, manipulation, espionage to play a big role both in my ascension and in my ruling. Also I hate guilds that allow you to gain ranks too fast or regardless your competence or to be head of more guilds. It doesn't make sense, it doesn't make your decisions matter and it doesn't help replayability either.

You should consider adding Morrowind Guilds to the first option :whistling:

Just saying, I think factions were handled better back when you had more guilds in general, different cultural guilds for the same function, and inter-guild conflict.

A guild that hunts Vampires and Werewolves would be great, and I'd like to see vampire clans too! As long as we can become vampires and join them!

Necromancers' guild was something Oblivion lacked, especially because they made an appearance in the game. What guild I thought was needed was a hunter guild. I also thought fighters guild had the best storyline. I don't want to spoil anything about the storyline but if you've ever played AND BEATEN the fighters guild then you know what I mean. :foodndrink:

I would personally like to see the variety and depth of factions from Morrowind return. Obviously not the great houses, but perhaps Nordic clans, a local religion, vampire clans, a joinable imperial legion (very applicable to the frontier), the imperial cult (very underrated, imo), and others. Oblivion had far too few factions.

I really did love the DB, the members were awesome, albit a little too cheery, and the quests were good. Though for a reward as guildmaster, recognition is something I would love.

Strolling down the street in your archmage robes, a few nervous adepts following you while avoiding stepping on your cloak should draw attention.

The fighter's guild had a good story, but imo it had some of the worst missions. On subsequent playthroughs I just couldn't stomach the first half-dozen missions.

Necromancer's guild imo would be awesome, we need an evil mage faction. First off, the spells you could learn from them would be awesome. Secondly, the missions would be interesting, like "kill this isolated village, raise the corpses as skeletons for mannimarco's army.
