Help me identify that Starship class!

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 11:39 pm

Me, being a pretty huge Star Trek fan, and a writer, I have written a few pieces of Star Trek fanfic, (no, I'm not a huge nerdy geek that you might think, more of a closet nerd) and I really need to figure out the Starship class that I want to use in my next piece of fanfic.
It was in the new movie, at the beginning I think, and it's not on any of the http://www.lcarscom.net/allships.jpg http://www.trekmania.net/the_fleet/utopia/grand_revision9_chart.jpg I've been able to find.
Basically, if I cold describe it, if you looked at it front on from the head, as if it were coming at you, the saucer section is shaped almost exactly like the Enterprise's saucer, but instead of the nacelles being back, and to the sides, they are on the top and the bottom, anchored by a short stem reaching out to the nacelles from the top and the bottom of the saucer.
Anyone got an idea of what this class is called? I've searched and searched and cannot find it. :(

Your second link is broken. The website you linked to claims an illegal hotlink and bandwidth theft.

As for your ship, it is probably new and not part of the established universe. Your best bet would be to ask around some trekkie forums.

I think it's a remodelling based on the old constellation class.

It could be, since the nacelles of a Constellation class are the same position, but instead of 4 nacelles there were only 2 in this one, it made for a very interesting look.

http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/USS_Kelvin

Memory Alpha calls it "Kelvin type" which is what they call something when they don't actually know the class of it.

And supposedly it's nearly as big as the Enterprise E, way to go alternate universe.

Oh my god I love you. That's exactly it! Thanks for finding it.
Looks sweet, eh? For a 23rd century ship. :P

They don't allow direct linking however if your copy the URL and put it in to the window with the 'access denied' pic you'll get the image Shinovakhiin is trying to show us :)
