Todd doesn't know

Todd is hesitant about having horses in skyrim because how good the horses in Red Dead Redemption look, lol!

Well RDR basically set the bar. So if Bethesda can't make horses at least on par if not better than those in RDR, then there's no point in having them at all.

Though I do personally believe there are horses in Skryim and they look and play fantastic.

I personally disagree with this sentiment. If every game cut out every feature of it that was done better in another game, well you would get some pretty dull games. Nobody would want to include character relationships in a game because Dragonage did it really good, or have a climbing system because Mirrors Edge had a better one than they could manage. I mean I'd rather have no horses than awful horses, but they don't have to be better than the best (I hear RDRs horses are pretty much perfect) to be considered worthy of implementation. Just good.

EDIT: Those are just random examples BTW, not saying they should necessarily be in Skyrim. But really, the ES games will do certain things better than other games, and some things not as good, but not every feature should have to be the greatest implementation ever.

What would you rather have? Todd going only Molyneux and promising a ton of stuff they aren't sure they can deliver on? Or telling us they are working on some stuff but he doesn't want to make any promises? I prefer the latter personally.

Well Todd has praised RDR numerous times, so I think even he realizes that horses need to be at least on the same level as RDR.

I haven't played, but from the sound of it, it would be nigh on impossible to make better horses. I'd settle for 'really rather good'. Like I said with the last post, you can't just cut out everything that doesn't live up to the best it's ever been done in any game ever.

Besides, horses in Skyrim would play a much smaller role in comparison, so not being perfect would be less noticeable.

Red dead redemption is a western game, so ofcourse rockstar spent a lot of time on the features and animation of the horses. If anyone has played RDR you also know that all of the animals are just about perfect. Considering skyrim is a fantasy game it will be interesting to see how realistic the skyrim features and animations of wolves, horses, mountain lions, etc will compare to RDR. I don't think bethesda is spending a lot of time on normal animals, thet better be working on the werewolf transformation and animation

That's why I stated in my original post that the horses need to be at least on par with those in RDR. I'm guessing Bethesda shares the same sentiment considering RDR as been brought up multiple times.

I think its both many thing arent set or are clunky in theyr system RPGwise, and he can t give more than what he has already given.

I think he Beth has given early to see how the idea would be received by the comunity, now we should have some times with minimum feedback.

There s so much time ahead they still have at least 10 month to work on the game.

He doesn't want to overhype the expectation, that's why he's being so calm about this all and not too informative.

Yes, but you have to agree that some of the GI updates were just mostly repeating what was already said in the GI magazine.

I would say most of them expanded upon what was in the cover story -- a good example being the stuff from Emil about the Dragon Language. Then there was fun stuff like the office tour.

And don't forget that was the largest cover story in the history of Game Informer :)

Not to mention the GI updates are a way to get that information out there for people who couldn't get the magazine. I think people were just expected completely new information, instead of it being expanded upon. That's where their disappointment is coming from. I was at first with the written updates until I realized that. :D
