In no particular order:

Bungie for the Halo series.
Valve
Treyarch for CoD: WaW(I didn't really like BO)
DICE
Epic Games
Bethesda
Ruffian games

I probably missed some others.

EDIT: can't believe I forgot Ubisoft.
EDIT2: oh and 4A Games for Metro 2033.

In order from one to five:

1. Bethesda for making Elders Scrolls, and introducing me to Fallout. Wet was good, and I bet Rage will be better than all their previous games combined.

2. Epic introduced me to real games and I've been a big fan ever since.

3. Gearbox made Borderlands. Nuff' said.

4. EA have made many great games, but those games have some fatal mistakes.

5. Obsidian, even though I've only played one of their games, is a great developer.

He are mine, in no particular order.

Valve
Gearbox (BiA series)
Bioware (though a couple of sequels are testing my level of loyalty)
Obsidian
Atlus (one of the only reasons my ps2 is still running)
Nintendo Internal
Monolith
Irrational games
Double Fine (comedy gold everyone)
And lets not forget Blizzard (just got into WoW, but have been playing Diablo for years)

I'm sure I'm missing one or two, but there's my list. The games these guys made are the ones in my computer and consoles about 90% of the time. Rockstar might make it on there someday, but seeing as GTA4 was the only game they made that I truly loved, it might take a little time.

Bragging, no. Doing http://kotaku.com/#!293061/gabe-newell-smack-talks-the-pc-ps3-xbox-360-and-your-mother Yes.

TL:DR: Stating that another developer's work is trash is another way of saying "Ours is better."

Gabe Newell is also pretty fickle.

2007: "The PS3 is a total disaster on so many levels, I think it's really clear that Sony lost track of what customers and what developers wanted," said Newell. "I'd say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a 'do over.' Just say, 'This was a horrible disaster and we're sorry and we're going to stop selling this and stop trying to convince people to develop for it.'"

2010: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpcQoATYgsY

I don't see any of that as bragging or anything of a very negative or aggressive nature. It seems to me that he was just unhappy with the experience he got developing for the PS3 and Xbox. How can theirs "be better"? He was focusing on the lack of attention that MS gave the PC gaming market when Vista was released despite past promises. When talking about the CPU architecture he wasn't even referring to Valve in any way, he said that he preferred the way that Intel did it.

I don't see him being fickle, he wasn't pleased with the experience he got from Sony and therefore wasn't particularly enthusiastic about developing for them at the time.

Bethesda is my favorite, but other favorites include Square Enix and BioWare (though I'm not really interested in their newest stuff - seems stale, repetitive, and lacking very much in the gameplay department... meaning lacking very much as games; let me know when the next single-player KotOR game comes around).

Bioware s good for visuals and thats about it, they are leaving their fanbase for newer fans, who likely wont stick, their plost are rehashed (except DA2, and its much better as a result imo) and characters feel the same, except DA2, still unsure who some are, but Merrill is definately the new Tali.

Relic - Company of Heroes and Dawn of War are amazing games. They lost some points with DoW2 (didn't like the multiplayer/skirmish in it), but it had a decent campaign at least.

DICE - Love the Battlefield series.

Free Radical (now Crytek UK) - The Timesplitters series is/was brilliant. I had some good times with it and still hold hope that they'll make more some day.

Westwood - Loved the Westwood C&C games back in the day.

Bungie - I'm not as big of a Halo fan as I used to be, but I've got to put Bungie on here. I've had some good times with the Halo series.

There are more, but that's all I can be bothered mentioning right now.

I forgot to mention them, I think. Red Alert 2 and Tiberium Sun were my favorites.

I also never mentioned Black Isle Studios, for Fallout 1 & 2.

I really liked Westwood for Dune II but that was about it. I played Red Alert 2 for a bit, enjoyed it, but never really got stuck into it...

Relic did some fantastic work with Homeworld, amazing game.

Jane's Combat Simulation Group were awesome - until they got bought up by EA and subsequently shut down. It was a sad day for all.

Right now, I'm really impressed with TaleWorlds Entertainment for making medieval fighting fun. Previously, Torn Banner Studios had this market well and truly cornered with Age of Chivalry; but they are making a new game it looks pretty amazing.

No one, really. Frankly, I don't even like Bethesda that much.

I guess I just have no concept of favorite developer. I just look for games that are good and play them.

Monolith! Don't know what I was thinking when I credited Rebellion for AvP2. :cryvaultboy:

idsoftware ofcourse is one of the favourite companies. Favourites: doom series, quake2, wolfestein enemiterritory.
Relic- It makes best strategy games. Homeworld, Company of Heroes. Now as world has those strategy games, does the world need any other strategy games as those are already perfect games. :) Hopefully they will make sequels for those games.
Remedy entertaiment- Superb stories, and dialogue. Max payne, and Alan Wake.
3drealms- Duke nukem is just so awesome. :D

But i really dont pay attention to who made any some games, but i only care if some game is good or not.
