Heeeelp - I've turned myself invisible!

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:52 am

So I was messing around with the Reinforced Chinese Stealth Suit (the mod, which is superb btw) in FO3edit, changing values here and there. One way or another I have managed to turn myself invisible, even when I wear different armour or nothing at all. I thought for sure that removing the mod would fix it, but no...it didn't. I could go back to an early save, but I'd really, really prefer to fix it if is at all possible.

I'd be very grateful if anybody out there has any ideas!

I don't think there is a way to fix it. I could be wrong. That is why you should always make a hard save before testing a mod, or an edit to a mod. I can't tell you how many goofy things that have happened from me fiddling with things in the geck. You should have a moderator move this to the mods section. You would probably have more luck there.

Oh well, I guess I may have to start almost from scratch after all then. I've asked for the thread to be moved (my, that was damn quick...) and keep hoping for a little while. Thanks for the reply mate!

I think that your problem is that the player has the stealth effect permanently, meaning that you didn't de-activate it on unequip. You could remove it with:

player.removeSpell EFFFECTID

The only problem is that you must know the ID of the effect. To find it, check out your mod. Did you make your own custom stealth effect? If not, check out the FormID of the stealth effect from the armor and remove it. Let us know whether it worked for you :)

Great stuff, I'll give that a go and report back. First though, there's Chicken Tikka Masala in the oven. :-) The stealth effect is certainly not mine (wouldn't have a clue how to make one), so I'll no doubt locate it in the mod data.

Well, it didn't actually work, but only because I'd mistaken the cause of the problem. I was checking out another mod called Levelers Truck and one of the features within it gave me the permanent invisibility, something I didn't actually notice. Hence I had to go back prior to that anyway.

I appreciate the suggestion though, which I'm sure will come in very handy sooner or later when I [censored] up again. It happens fairly frequently...

Cheers!

Are you also using the Groovatron. I had an invisibility problem while wearing the Reinforced CSA, sitting and hitting the C key for the Groovatron menu. Yes, all at the same time. What was even stranger, when I was wearing other stuff but my followers were still wearing the CSA they would go all stealthy whenever I was sitting and hit the C key

It still happens but now that I know what's doing it I can try and avoid it :)
