Trying to find older mod

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:20 am

I recently bought a new pc, the one I was running was close to 8 years old, and I just bought goty Fallout 3. I had first bought it when the game came out and ran it on the lowest settings possible. Had a blast and had a couple mods that made the game fun. With this new pc, I want to start back up, but for the life of me, I can't remember some of the mods I used. One was "Welcome to the wasteland", and the other 2 I couldn't figure out. One made the health of everything (yourself included) lower, to make combat a bit more realistic, no more 4-5 rounds to the skull before killing a human. The other was more geared towards repair and fixing things. If you had 2 similar items, you could repair them with each other, they didn't have to be the same exact item (any power armor could repair any power armor, any rifle to repair any rifle, any metal helmet could be used for another metal helmet etc). I was hoping to just scroll around the forums to find these 2 mods, but I've had no success the last few days (dont want to start playing until I have everything set). If someone knows the name of those mods, or a similar one, it would be greatly appreciated

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1097295-fallout-mod-detectives-8/ was designed for this :)
The mod that makes people easier to kill sounds like one of the overhaul mods. I don't have a computer that can play FO3 right now, so I couldn't say which one it is. But I know when I did have a comp that could play it, I had most of the overhauls that were compatible lol.

Go with Arwen's Tweaks. You will do just fine for what you described =)

Well, I got it all up and running, but it keeps telling me that FOSE isn't installed, but I have it on there. I even tried more than one of the versions, but to no avail. Not sure what to do at this point, everyone raves about this FWE mod

Make sure you start the game with the FOSE_loader.exe, not the Fallout3.exe.

Installing overhauls, compatibility patches, FOSE etc can be quite complicated for the newbie. Be sure to read the readme's.

To be honest I think FWE would make your head explode if you couldn't figure out arwens tweaks. But fix one problem before you blunder into another. Good advice so you can still use your game without a reinstall.....assuming it isn't already necessary XD

This was a total opposite for me. FWE is extremely easy to install. I was going to try Arwens and started with all of the downloads, but I gave up after about 10 downloads for the full experience. I had to download her mods, the mods that go well with hers and then the patches to those mods that went well with her mods. In all honesty, it wasn't worth it to me to go threw all of that. I was also kinda surprised to see an anime pipboy overhaul type thing listed under a realistic section. Her overhaul mod really does catch my interest and it does show a lot of hard work has gone into it. I guess I just don't have that type of patience when I know FWE already works for me, very sorry.

You don't have to install ANY of the other mods that I have in my Fallout 3 mod list. Those are just the mods that I personally use in my own game. FWE merges a bunch of other mods . . . where I made my Realism Tweaks more compatible with other mods, and let the user decide exactly what mods they want to add. It is just a different concept.

The only real pain is the RI/PN; RiPnO, BLTC mess, which is why I'm currently working on my own Injuries module (the Needs part will come later). The rest of the mods on my site are pretty easy to install and very few require any compatibility patch (and when they do, you just select the patch when you install my Tweaks). And then you just follow my suggested load order. Seriously, I've made this pretty simple (and even have guides on my site for users who are new to mods). What is difficult is trying to make a FO3 overhaul on your own . . . now THAT requires patience!

All the mods on my site are NOT categorized as Realism mods. The 'Pitt Gal Stats' mod is listed under my Interface category. Personally I find that the Pitt Gal Stats gives a MUCH better graphical representation of my character and her injuries.

The thing is, you're going to get a VERY different gameplay experience with my Realism Tweaks, than what you get with FWE . . . so this shouldn't be just about which overhaul is easier to install, but what you want your game to be like.
