Dunmer

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:50 pm

Due to Azura's curse The chimer were turned into the Dunmer, The skin colour resembled ash and had red fiery eyes to represent their greed.
My question is can a dunmer be born without their eyes being red? or are they cursed with having red eyes in all Dunmer?

I'm sure some freak occurance could produce a Dunmer without red eyes, though I wouldn't count on it happening more times than you can count on one hand.

It's part of the curse so all Dunmer have red eyes. It's as much part of them as gray skin. You can't have one with out the other.

Vampirism often causes eyes to go a different colour, but that may be simply a side effect of staying in the dark for countless years.

It would appear that all the Dunmer now have red eyes. If they did not, they would likely still be Chimer, and yes, there are still Chimer in Tamriel today. (See http://www.imperial-library.info/obscure_text/nu-hatta_nu-mantia.shtml#8)

The only imaginable instance would be a half-Dunmer, or a person with some Dunmer blood but not fully blooded. It's said the person takes on physical characteristics of the mother's race, however, so he or she most likely will appear fully Dunmer.

The blood of a Dunmeri mother will usually override the traits of a mer of another race as seen in the children begotten between the unions of Queen Morgiah of Firsthold. (See http://www.imperial-library.info/pge3/summerset.shtml)

I really liked how....un-Bosmer Cutter looked.
And I spent a good 3 minutes looking at Umbra in her armor trying to figure out what the hell she was before killing her. The light in that ruin was tricky.

yeah, I know. If the blacksmith hadn't specifically stated she was a wood elf, I would've assumed Umbra was a very dainty redguard.

Mehra Milo in Morrowind is described as having "copper eyes." So perhaps there are slight variations in color, whether naturally or through racial mixing.

Just listen to her voice and compare her height.

I always forget I play as a Bosmer, so when I met her, I assumed she was normal height...

Female Bosmer are taller than the males. They're actually of quite average height.
