Would you like spears in the game if...

they were not usable by the player or NPCs? Like if certain monsters could use them, so there wouldn't be the balancing issue, or traps that have spears thrusting at you? Just a thought.

No...having spears that anyone can use except you is far worse than not having them at all. Traps are fine though, spikes coming out of a wall is a fairly obvious trap after all.
What about it has been childish? We've given a hundred different reasons why, from historical examples to gameplay perspectives, spears would improve the game, in addition to the fact that we are paying customers and it is a feature we would like to see, and is certainly not a stretch of the imagination. A medieval RPG? With an extremely common medieval weapon? The audacity! I think it's been childish they way everyone else has said "Spearz? LOL, Please continue, my good sir.." Some of the most ignorant comments I've ever seen have been against spear

The fact that you are paying customers is entirely your own choice and it certainly does not make you entitled to having the game exactly your way. Those of us who play on the PC are a minority, and the people who post here are the vocal part of that minority. To use a simple metaphor, it's like taking a piss in the atlantic. Sure, there's a little more water there, but it's not gonna make a difference. Bethesda needs to cater to as many people as possible, and the majority of players don't care about spears. If they did then they would be in the game and we wouldn't be seeing countless threads repeating the same damn thing over and over and over again!

You know why people are starting to mock you, or post snarky comments in the spear threads? Because we are sick to death of seeing them.

But then they would be easier to mod in, so who really gets the last laugh?

PC users that's who.

I never really wanted it myself, but I got the idea after seeing all the spear threads and it was even asked about in the podcast.

This way people can still technically have spears in the game, without it being an issue for the game developers, I guess.

Yeah, because people want spears just because they want to look at them. They obviously don't want to actually use them.

* I actually censored that myself. I was using an common internet acronym, and the censor changed it to a different phrase.

Yeah and Beth has deliberately ignored your common sense reasoning for no reason. THEY AREN'T TECHNICALLY POSSIBLE WITH THIS ENGINE TO THE QUALITY THAT BETHESDA EXPECTS OF ITSELF. Read between the lines.

I don't buy that for a second. And if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you. It's a magic bridge. Made of candy.

Source? Linkage? Evidence that this information was obtained via any method other than "rectal extraction?"

If that were the case, they would have said so, just like they have in the past with other features (such as Radiant AI in Oblivion).

There's going to be pole arms, just not sticks with little arrowheads on them. That's what Todd is trying to say.

I believe spears seem to be a touchy subject around these parts. So touchy, in fact, several users here might be crossing lines they shouldn't be. And with might be, I mean enough to get a slap on the wrist.

Whenever a new spear topic arises - and they will - I urge everyone who dislikes seeing such threads to stay out of them. For your own sake.
