+1

When I got my 42" for my bedroom, it was a pretty substantial improvement over my old 28". Granted, I was going from 480p on Component to 1080p on HDMI (or 720p for most 360 content) as well, but it's particularly noticeable when piloting an Apache in Bad Company 2 as I can see players on the ground MUCH easier. I went back to my old TV for a week when my newer one needed to be serviced, and I didn't even want to play most of my games the change was so drastic.

I totally agree with this. I play on a 22" LG monitor on 1920 x 1080 HD and that difference really became noticeable when I had to drop down to 480p for recording on my PVR (I have since fixed that problem, only to have the XCM converter box I bought break).

I bought the Astro A40 + mixamp set and I absolutely love it. I use those headphones for EVERYTHING and they are still going 2 years strong. Also, if you guys thought that headsets were cheap in CoD, then you should try Halo:
1. There's no one using Ninja Pro.
2. The footsteps as well as things like lifts are incredibly noticeable. I can hear a guy picking up a power-up all the way across the map on Guardian (Halo 3).

Then (assuming it's a 2010 model) it's probably either the 55LE5400 or 55LE5500. Or hell, maybe even the 55LE8500 if you were looking to spend a lot of cash. All of which are quality TV's, the last one in particular.

the increased sound quality im fine with. the directional 8 speaker ones that act like uav im not.

thats the devs fault for implementing 5.1/7.1 dont blame the headsets and its not really that big of a deal

Nice. Well, I'm gonna give it a rest because I think I've taken this thread far enough off topic. :P

That's true, though hearing little things like footsteps is noticeably easier on a headset than it is on a home theater system.

Oh, and I totally wish the Xbox 360 supported 7.1.

I hate Turtle beach's and the like, cause it can give you an advantage to those who don't want to pay $100 just to win a match, luckily these the Silent Steps perk.

You make it sound like people ONLY buy them for an advantage - I know I didn't. The sound quality is MUCH better than any television's built-in speakers, and they're much cheaper than most home theater setups. They also allow me to play with the volume cranked without disturbing the rest of my family, an especially useful feature at nighttime. I also use them any other time I'm using my TV, as they work with my Wii and Blu-ray player as well.

im sorry but some turtle beaches are rediculous. its like having uav. when im sneaking up behind a guy with cold blooded & ninja pro about to knife him. and he turns around and kills me because he had a high end headset its a little unfair.

If you were sneaking up on him, his headsets wouldn't help him at all.

If you were acting like a bull in a china shop, however, they do.

THIS
thank u.

I bought my Headset because i didnt want a home theatre system as i ten to play late and wont be able to use it during those times unless i wanna wake ppl up lol
Like i said the Headsets dont make much of a difference to me its just doin what the devs already implemented in the game anyway so no need to try an bash players that spend money on a headset because u dont have 1 for whatever reason.

PS: if you're sprinting around u dont need a headset to hear the sounds so ppl shouldnt ASSUME just because someone turns around they have a headset cuz its just common sense to turn around if u hear a sound and you dont see anyone in your field of view

It's all in how you use them. If you're out to listen for footsteps and adjust your sound accordingly, that's your prerogative. Turtle Beaches are also a great way to keep the volume down at night, and they make for an excellent gaming experience. If you've ever played Bad Company 2 with them on, you'll know what I'm talking about.

I don't have Turtle Beaches, mine are AudioFX by eDimensional. Pretty unheard of I believe.

Anyway, they're around-ear, noise-cancelling, bendy-stalk high-quality microphone, awesome quality, and they create air vibrations for frequencies that are too low for human hearing, so you literally feel the blast of explosions and the like. Not to mention being able to hear where rockets are fired from and impact from hundreds of metres away round corners. ^_^

The great thing about good headsets:

You can hear the difference when someone is walking on a different surface
You can hear people walking around or shooting. Even if they have silencers you can hear them just not as well.
I can hear the wind blowing, and other enviroment sounds that make the game more immersive.

Well you hear the gun-mechanics when they are close. Which is absolutely granted because that's how silencers/suppressors work.
