Music Recommendations

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 7:28 pm

This thread is for users to recommend music to mod into FO3's music folder. There are a few folders in this directory: dungeon, explore, battle, etc.

To recommend music, specify when the music should be played, followed by the "artist - track", and (if you'd like) a link to a sample (youtube is fine). For example...
Dungeon:

FO3's vanilla soundtrack just doesn't cut it for me anymore. It was adequate for a year and I didn't want to mess with it because I like how the tracks blend into each other seamlessly enough. Buuuuut, I've gotten to the point where I'd rather play in silence.. After listening to internet radio for a while, I found a few instrumentals that I felt would work great in FO3.

So I've set off looking for more thematic (very subjective) music, again instrumentals, with eerie/dark soundscapes. My search brought me to a couple of bands, one I already knew and another I just discovered.

The following are kinda in order of most appropriate (high to low):

Dungeon:

My apologies for any broken links. Also if there are other categories I missed, please go ahead and list them (indoors maybe?).

Here's a couple that I have. :)
You'll notice that I love my battle music to be fast-paced. I always take songs from movies or other games. (I'm a big lover of soundtracks. :P )

James Horner - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-7rVdXXwds&feature=related (I edited it to start at 3min09

For dungeons, it's mostly from Aliens' soundtrack again. Songs like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8j63VJ2ziuw&feature=related. Some from Silent Hill 1,2 and 3's soundtrack as well.

For the public areas, I used two songs from Black Hawk Down's soundtrack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzcPE-5ZeDY and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9W1W8tgCXkY

Oh and of course, Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics' soundtracks. ;)

Excellent tracks. These fit almost seamlessly with the vanilla tracks. The problem with the ones I've chosen is that many of them will end abruptly as it blends back into vanilla tracks. There's a short "rift" track that plays to transition battle music back into exploration/dungeon music/etc. Doesn't blend at all with anything I've chosen!
