Borderlands worth it?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 8:48 am

Love the game. Played through it a few times and thinking about buying the GOTY edition for my PS3 since I never really played Underdome or the last bit of DLC. I think I'm just a svcker for games with random loot.

I never played with others but I enjoyed it anyway.

It's so much fun if you can get into it. Its RPG aspect is very weak though.

I'm enjoying it immensely with some friends. Me and some other IRL friends are all going to grab it and play through the game.

its really fun if you enjoy running around shooting things

I guess I'll enjoy it as much as I did Fallout 3, then!

I had tons of fun with it online, it's very repetitive though.
Still, it's a good game to chill in front of when you just wanna kill stuff.

So, I was thinking of buying Borderlands on the PS3 store, but I have one question. Is it worth the buy? I've seen many gameplay videos and it looks like the perfect RPG, but is it really what it seems?

it's extremely fun, rewarding and funny if you have friends to play with you.

if you don't I wouldn't buy it, it's boring alone, they do try to make it fun even if you're playing alone, but it's not the same and gets repetitive after a while. When you have friends though, particularly ones who're playing a different class than you are, it is great fun be strategic. It's also very fun (and funny) when things go completely south and you're all forced up against each others backs holding off massive waves of enemies by the hairs of your chin. there's a lot of charm and humor in the game and is full of very epic battles, and it's quite long at that, you and your friends will be at this for a while, especially if you get the DLCs which are also very well made (except for Underdome, that one svcks, but the others are also very long and fun.)

again though, if you're going to go at it alone, I'd rent it. If you have friends, buy and make them buy it too, you won't be dissapointed

Its a decent game to play. Its not exactly a game I'm glad I spent my money on, but Im not angry that I did either.

I never finished it, but I bought it online when it was on sale for 10$. I must have put 20-30 something hours into it (maybe alot less) before I tossed it aside. It was totally worth it, but I probably wouldn't buy it.

The Pros- Tons of Loot, there are thousands of guns, and no 2 of them are exactly alike.
Online is fun.
It takes a good deal of time to complete.

The Cons- While no 2 guns are the same, alot of them are extremely similar.
At some times, the game can be downright insane when it comes to difficulty, it was obviously built for co-op.
Gets old pretty fast (this is opinion though)
Not Much variety in enemys or environment, makes things less exciting since you are basicly just fighting a the same enemy you were fighting at the beginning except with more health and better damage.

The Verdict- rent it, if you like it get it, as its not that expensive at the moment.

Though if you like how it looks, get it. though consider getting the game RAGE. it looks like what border lands should have been.

Or just wait untill Borderlands 2 comes out, which it probably will

To say it's linear is a bit of a stretch. Most linear games kinda forbid you from returning to previous areas or otherwise make those areas pointless to return to. With Borderlands you can stick around the same area and kill more stuff to try to get better stuff before you move on. It is pretty linear in the sense that there isn't much exploration involved.

I would say if you can get it + all DLC for under $50 it will be a good deal and will provide some entertainment. Thoroughly enjoyed it myself from the quirky characters to the unique story line. Best part is how the guns are dynamic and really there's no one gun that is alike unless bought from a store. Even then the "uncommon" to "rare" guns are quite unique.

If you're playing this game for its story you'll be disappointed. The story was one of the worst I've ever played. The game is a lot of fun. The Zombie DLC was outstanding and the final boss was memorable. Other than that, if you asked me about the game's MQ I just remember randomly entering the last part confused off my ass.

This was one of the worst games I have ever played. Complete waste of money.

I bought it because I thought the art direction looked cool, but the dialogue and the story was so excruciatingly bad that it was simply unplayable. This is coming from someone who has labored through lots of bad dialogue and completed Arcania Gothic 4.

The quests were lame and I had to put the game down after a couple hours because it was so painful to hear the annoying accent and dialogue of the robot character, Claptrap.

Primm Slim and Victor were so much more believable.

It's not really worth it as a single-player game, but even with only one friend it can easily be worth 8 or 9 out of 10. Full single player playing and I'd give it a 6 or 7. But even the single-player experience is worth it as long as you don't pay more than 15 € / 20 $ for it.

I love the game. I'm currently playing all the expansions.

Anybody know how to kill crawmorax?

No way to kill it without a team. I was max level and it is 4 levels above that, also the fact of the maggot things are immune to gunfire and have to be killed with melee. I am just glad they didn't make it so that you had to kill Craw to finish the game.

When I played in LAN with my brother I liked the game a lot, but then I went to play solo and I got bored pretty quickly. On the other hand I usually get bored pretty quickly from any single-player FPS, the RPG part on borderlands wasn't enough to keep me playing.

What I've been doing is switching around my upgrades quite a bit. I go from one specialty to another almost every time I play just for funsies. Right now my Deadwing can attack 9 times before coming back to me.

It's possible if you're Lilith and you have extreme patience (because it's going to be a loooong fight)
