A funny Nord-related fact!

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 5:13 am

Just found something out...my Grandma whose maiden name was Nordstrom, well her mother's maiden name was Lampinen. For the majority of Americans, they would pronounce it wrong as LAMP EYE NEN...No it is pronounced LAMP IN EN. Americans pronounce things wrong so much!

My middle name is Romero. It means rosemary. Not very Nord, and not really relevant, but hey, people are telling theirs...

I have a friend who's surname is Nord. Try to beat that! ;)

Nord- names are pretty common in scandinavia, "Nord" means "North" here. Nordstr?m means Northstream.

Again I'm being smart-ass but actually its LAMPI -nen and word 'LAMPI' means 'POND' in english . Most of finnish surnames have the -nen end its like -y. for example: hairy, sneaky

Okay, I just learned that years ago, the people would have to take the last name of who they worked for, so Lampinen was not the actual family name...it was forced on him!

Do you think Skyrim will sell more copies in Scandi due to the Nordic cultural themes than it would have sold otherwise?

How many units does a typical successful game sell in your region?

I'm not from Scandi, but I would predict it will.
