Beeing the First an Island north of Skyrim owned if not wrong by Solitude and the second Is the native continent north of Tamriel where the Nord come from , Will they play any role in the game eventually ? Or could be good points for some mods?

Atmora doesn't support life anymore.

"Expeditions to Atmora in modern times describe a place of permanent winter, with little life and no sign of human habitation. Whatever population did not succeed in fleeing to Tamriel doubtless succumbed to the ever-worsening climate many centuries ago."

There isn't much info on the state of Roscrea, other than that it is a Fief.

I don't know, Roscrea was a good candidate in the "what expansion" thread. Mind you though, maybe they'll want to do something totally different - the feel of the expansions is generally not the same.

Doubt they'll be mentioned in the actual game, they'll focus on Skyrim. Well, more for later I guess.

Considering that Atmora has progressively become more of a frozen wasteland and we have no evidence that that trend has reversed, coupled with the complete lack of life, no Man, Elf, or Beast could survive there.

Maybe a Lich has brought down an Eternal Winter there and you could lead an expedition to reclaim it?

What? NO! Altmora has, more or less, been that way since the 1st era. The first lich didn't arise till the 2nd.

The Nords have no reason to go back. They are already home.

Rosecrea sounds like the most viable, as little is known about it, so Beth can mold it their wishes.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves though, we still have to wait for Skyrim first. :P

I think that was a WoW reference.

I've been begging Bethesda for a Roscrea DLC/expansion since before Skyrim was even announced... so yes, I would love to see Roscrea.

That's true, but it could just be like an Ice age.

In which case it will not have ended in the time since the last expedition there.

Well they put Fallout 3 in a inhospitable and unforgiving waist land, I'm sure they would have no problem making an Atmora themed DLC and make it believable.

But....Altmora is pretty much like the dead center of Antarctica. There's nothin' there.

Also, what would you even DO in Atmora???

Roscrea sounds more than plausible though.

Could be good for expansion packs.

And about Atmora being a frozen wasteland with zero life (which is untrue, I think; some Nords stayed behind while others went for Skyrim); you guys do know that Bethesda can alter the some of the lore to their needs and wishes?

The lore isn't written in stone.

But there is something there... land. Solitude reached Roscrea back in the 3rd Era, who knows, maybe in the last 200 years they reached Atmora and started a settlement? Land is very very attractive, no matter how inhospitable. Granted any DLC set there would be rather boring unless it's a big city with quests like in Tribunal, because, as you said, there's nothing to explore.

But frankly I'd just settle for a rough map of Atmora and Tamriel to show the distance between them, with Roscrea and (hopefully) some other small islands in-between. I don't really feel the urge to visit Atmora like I do the other "origin land" of Yokuda, because there's actually something in Yokuda to visit and explore.

Above, a frozen wasteland, snow as far as the eye can see swallowing the horizon. Only scattered mounds and ancient withered trees occupy the endless icescape. But what lurks below, in the seemingly botomless chasms? In the pitch black caves of rime and rock, you will know horror.
