weapon slots

basically a more realistic version of the hotkey system.

so say i put a sword in the "back" slot, it would appear on my back

if i tried to put a claymore or bow in the "waist" slot it would not let me as they are too big

just a basic idea

Not really related to the hotkey system at all. I never use hotkeys for weapons or armor, but for things like torches and repair hammers and spells.

I support the idea though, as long as the more weapons you have on your body, the more weighed down you are and the slower you move.

I'd like to be able to have 2 longswords for dual wield and have one on my back and one on my waist so i like this idea.

awesome idea! God, it would have been epicly awesome if you could have a bow in your hand and your dual longswords on your back in a cross.

NO way, man! You can't do that! If I want to carry 5 swords and 3 bows, I should be able to! Limiting my freedom limits my RP ability!!!!! [/freedomfundamentalist&uberRPGer]

But in reality, I don't really care. I'll use whatever system they give me :shrug:

I like the idea, although I doubt it's in.

A sword on the waist/ back while using your bow would look cool and be realistic.

I think it's a good idea, but i only think it would work effectively if you could only apply one weapon set (left+right hand) to display. It could work like this;

Right hand, 2H weapons, shield, or right handed weapon. All of these can go on your back, as they should.
Left hand, left handed weapons, go on a sheath by your left leg.

That way you could basically choose what look you want to go for. If you wanted to have a 1-handed weapon on your back, you could, by choosing to have it on your right hand. And there would also be a realistic slot for shields and two-handed weapons.

This would all be exactly the same as the system in Oblivion, when it comes to carrying weapons. The only advantage of having weapons and shields equipped is that you may draw them faster.

Love the idea of hotkeys corresponding to different 'hooks' on your body. Spells could be represented as scrolls or a spellbook, 4 waist slots (left/right front and left/right back) and 4 back slots excluding a cape (2 weapons, quiver, shield). If nothing else it would just be great for your character's aesthetic. I never play in third person but I do occasionally switch to it just to get an idea of how my character looks.
