STONE SOUP
I was walking on the snow-covered streets of Bruma, my feet screaming in pain with every step on the cold, stone ground. Only an hour earlier I had the idea of something to occupy me for the day and, at the same time, help the beggars in town. I went to the local general store and bought some ragged clothes to give me the appearance of a beggar. After that I went around town telling the beggars to meet me at the steps of the the Jeral View Inn. Now I was walking around town looking for a nice, shiny rock! Finally I came across a rock that looked almost like a pearl! It was perfectly round (Except for some bumps and dents), and it was smooth. Satisfied with the rock I began to walk to the Jeral View Inn. I was there in a couple of minutes and as soon as I arrived I saw the two beggars that lived in town.
"Why have you asked us to come here?" asked the first Beggar.
"All I'm going to say is that your going to enjoy yourselves and, hopefully, you'll be getting a decent meal tonight," I said, smilling.
The two beggars and I walked into the bar, but after taking a few steps in I heard a man screaming at me.
"Get out of me Inn you filthy beggarsn we don't want you in here!" screamed the publican.
I put on a hungry face and said, "Please... I only want to make some soup for my companions and I".
"With what ingredients?" asked the publican.
"I took out the rock from my pocket and showed it to the publican, "With this rock... all I need is a pot with boiling water". Even the beggars looked surprised.
"How exactly are you going to make a soup with a rock?" asked the publican, suspicious.
"Magic!" I said, adding some dazzle to my voice. My trick obviously worked because the publican hurriedly prepared a pot to see how I was going to make soup with a rock.
When the water began boiling I dropped the rock into the soup carefully, making sure not to burn myself with splashing water. The beggars and publican leaned closer with wide eyes, prepared to witness my amazing "powers". I began chanting and wispering strange words that probably didn't even exist and after a while I asked the publican, "For the spell to work I will need some meat". The publican went to the pantry and brought me some meat. I began chanting again and after a while...
"I will need some chopped garlic for my spell to work," I said. The publican began to stare at me suspiciously, but before he could say anything one of the beggars went to the pantry and began chopping some garlic. After he was done he handed to me the chopped garlic and I threw it into the boiling pot.
"Finally," I said, "I would like some potatos to add some taste to the final product," I said. The publican began to object, but the other beggar went into the pantry, got some potatos and began peeling the potatos. After he was done he handed me the potatos and I threw them into the pot and began chanting again. A few minutes passed and I decided that it was time to end this.
"It is done!" I boomed.
"So where is your magical, rock soup?" asked the publican angrily.
"Do you not see it? It is right in front of you!" I said.
"Guards!" yelled the publican. Suddenly the two beggars grabbed the handles of the pot with their shirts and ran out of the Inn. Seeing what they were doing I began to run away with them, laughing. That afternoon the two beggars and I had Stone Sup, high in the mountains, far from Bruma.
