I tried playing the Daggerfall Demo a few times, and each time I just have trouble moving around, sometimes I can't swing my blade, and I get killed by a skeleton that pops out of nowhere. Can anyone give me some advice for a beginner?

You need to hold and drag the left mouse button to attack. As for moving, set the program up to use WASD movement like in an FPS and turn on mouse look. The mouse movement controls are a bit glitchy.
