Building a New Skeleton

Is there any tutorials, or even help you can give to someone who doesn't have a mass amount of experience in blender for making a skeleton for character use. Creature would be fine, but character is perfered.

I thought I heard that it was not possible to create a new skeleton for use with NPCs or Player Characters. I think it might be possible for creatures though...

Yes, it is possible, if you use OBSE.

Da Mage has been working on a centaur race, as seen here:

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1041208-wip-the-oblivion-centaur-project/

It works with NPCs (because they don't need 1st person skeletons, they only use 3rd person skeletons), but is not fully compatible for player characters to become (because OBSE does not redirect 1st person skeleton yet, though it redirects the 3rd person skeleton).

He's having to remake the animations though. So if you make a custom race skeleton with all different bone names and bone positions, you'll have to custom animate your skeleton from scratch, to at least have an "idle.kf", so that it at least just stands around in the game. If you want more movement and actions, though, you'll have to make more animation types, like the vanilla races use.

Da mage said he'll finish some more animations and then release his centaur race for others to learn from, with hopes of someone also finishing it. I don't know when this will happen, though.

Koniption

PS - you might can ask Da Mage for some hints and tips. Just keep in mind he might end up being too busy. I myself have never made a custom race skeleton, so...
