I was pondering how true dual wielding combat might be played via RMB, RMB+shift and LMB and LMB+shift in oblivion when I had an odd thought. Is playing a 1st person rpg like oblivion troublesome for left handed people? If you spend your life manipulating objects with your left hand might it be disconcerting to all of a sudden have to become right handed in a game world?
I was wondering how one could develop a toggle for an Elderscrolls game that would cause the player character to really become left handed.
Just altering player character anims would affect shadows (which one could live with) but would make casting spells visually annoying and combat impossible.
A toggle would have to affect 3rd person anims, 1st person anims, spell casting and the the phsicallity of weidling of weapons in combat.
Another way woud be to figure out how to flip the visual display without flipping the writing in the hud or in game. That way every one in the world would be left handed but physics would not be affected. But then the physical layout of the game world would not coincide with the map, making 1st person travel a bit confusing.
