Morrowind Customs and Domiciles

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 3:46 am

I showed a little of my zaniness in the "Why Morrowind Playing" thread, but I figured I would try and share some of it here.

First a little introduction, and explanation. I'm a builder. When I mean builder, I mean that I build dioramas and sets for ladies and gentlemen who display, play, or film their custom action figures. In essence, it is the same thing that a terrain builder does for large scale gaming, when they want to enhance the gaming experience. Many of my customers/friends would tell stories, often called "photo-novels" or "diostories" using their custom figures posed and given dialogue, much like Robot Chicken, but clearly not always as comically slanted.

I am also a customizer. In the toy and action figure arena, this term usually means a person who will either buy a toy or playset, dismantle or destroy it, and use the parts of it to create something else. Often, we customizers will create toys that never existed, or improve ones that did. We form a pretty eclectic niche, as just like Morrowind Modders, we are only limited by our imagination. Most of what I have done was in the 1:18 scale arena, or 3 3/4 inch figures. Commonly known as "Joe scale(for GIJOE)".

But Morrowind has a very different look, and feel, so for this, I employed using a very good but short lived toy line called AOME, short for Armies of Middle Earth. Taking these figures, and also using other figures in the same scale 1:24 (approx. 2 1/2 inches to 3 inches) I am hoping to create the personalities as well as some of my own player characters in a tactile, toy related scale for my amusemant. I also am trying to create the domiciles and terrain of the game, to enhace the diorama experience.

I hope you'll find them as much fun as I did in attempting.

Eric

That's some awesome detail you've got going there.

Reminds me of my dad's model railroad. It was pretty small scale, and totally cool.

All the stuff you've made so far totally fits what I've seen of Morrowind.

Great job!

Thank you, all.

That's one of the things I have always enjoyed doing. Being inspired by a game, movie, or book, then wondered if I could make the item in a tactile fashion.
When I watched the movie Mononoke Hime, I saw that necklace A[censored]aka wore and gave to San, and next thing I know, I was adhereing an obsidian glass dagger to red leather, and fastening it with red silken cord. Or reading the Elfstones of Shannara, and made a pouch with three chalcedony stones to represent the Elfstones. So when Morrowind was being played, I looked over at my work table of toys and fodder, and well, there I was.

Thanks again for perusing!

Very cool.

You should take on a larger-scale project and make your living room look like the inside of a Sixth House base.
