in game blood.

Is the games action and violence system going to be watered down like oblivion's. Or is it going to be a complete splatter fest like fallout.

I imagine it will be enough to be realistic - not as if people have no blood, but not as if they are just a bag o' blood like Fallout 3.

Well the blood on weapons in screenshots look a bit more realistic. And Bethesda have repeatedly said that the game will be grittier. Right now theres not much else to say about it.

Realistic, visceral, but not over-the-top. Think Braveheart or Valhalla Rising.

I'm hoping it resembles Oblivion's more than Fallout's...

OB's was fine, the blood looked realistic enough without being over the top. FO's was appropriate simply because it was FO. I don't want to hit someone with a longsword and have their torso explode.

Rather it be like Oblivion, Fallout had so much that it became boring. It adds little and takes time to implement.

Yep, and here is a quote from the transcript of the podcast:
There is more violence to the combat just in how it looks. Not like Fallout violence where it gets really over the top. It's more a realistic level of violence for what it is with guys with swords and axes and those sorts of things."

In the GI article about Skyrim, there are images on pgs. 51 and 55 that may indicate the level of realism this game may have with respect to the topic of this thread.

For those who do not have access to the magazine, these images can normally be found on the internet using the terms "Game Informer" and "Skyrim" in your search engine. Sorry, direct link is not allowed on this site.

I'm hoping it's not like either. It's already confirmed not to be like fallouts but more than oblivions. I hope that slashes on people turn up with blood and an appropriate amount that comes out realistically. I also do want dismemberment but have it at where you slash and dismemberment doesn't have to result in death. People can lose arms fingers and hands from swordfights so why not allow this? along with decapitation when you aim the sword right i think this would be a lot better. It should punish enemies and you for not blocking or dodging right. Now obviously dismemberment for you would probably not happen unless you die. Although i think it'd be cool but only if you could get limbs replaced with magical armor from a spellcaster or something idk but i doubt that'd happen.

I'd like a mix between Oblivion/Fallout 3/and Dragon Age. In fallout 3 everything was about dismemberments and basically ripping someone apart untill there was just a pool of blood and guts left, however I would like decapitations and brutal nord/viking style death blows.

I'm happy with Oblivion's level, or for it to be optional.
