Mariah in Redguard.....

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 5:30 am

When I used to play Redguard, I was never sure of the race of the gardener girl Mariah. She does look like a Redguard but her voice is like a Bosmer. High pitched like.

Also there's a reference to her in a note in one of the Ancestral Tombs in Morrowind, I wonder what the connection is there.

I'd appreciate any help or input,

Thanks

There was already two other Wood Elves in the game, and they were going for tokenism of appearances of races. Having three Wood Elves would upset the balance more than it already was.

Bethesda themselves have agreed before that her voice was annoying. It was that bad.

Which is why they let you set her on fire.

She's a Redguard with a very high voice. Gee, guys, nothing personal, but you really overanolyze things sometimes.

Find torch. Set torch alight. Find Mariah. Set Mariah alight. Magnificent!

Indeed. This was before the era where all members of a single race had one voice actor. The in-game representations of the races are flawed. Obviously the Nords and Redguards born in Cyrodill would not have accents of their mother lands, but would sound Imperial for instance.

Not necessarily. It would depend on the people they hang out with. Just because they were born in Cyrodiil doesn't automatically mean they'd speak...Cyrodiilic? (I'm not sure if that's really a word)
