VLC is there one that requires less mandatory crap ?

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 9:43 pm

that doesn't change the fact that VLC is  though

This. It's pants. Forever updating the cache with me, it crashes when a movie finishes... it tries to muscle in on every media file on the system... lol I hate VLC. What's with the crappy cone icons too? Time for an update, redesign anyone? Weak.

That site is on the third page of a google search for "vlc". The official download is the first four results. You're googling wrong.

1. You didn't click the link revolutionfilms gave you

and

2. either:

a - you typed in VLC player wrong into google

b - you have an existing infection and/or using a proxy service that is filtering your Google results.

Google would NOT filter out the 100% reputable results. your google settings have nothing to do with this. Your mispelling and/or infection/use of a proxy service does

Judging from the fact you just spelt "proxy" as "proxie" despite me having just spelt it correctly in my post makes me believe your inability to spell is the fault

That said, a proxy service is any service that redirects your traffic through another party.

The official site is www.videolan.org/

At some point in the installation process, it should ask you to at least confirm the installation location (with an obvious option to change it). The default, I expect, is C:\\Program Files\VLC\ (though I don't know how much variation there is in the recent versions of Windows). Simply pay attention to each step the installer goes through, and you should be golden :).
