Skyrim Game Technicle Aspects

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 1:48 am

I was wondering if anybody could comment here. I 've heard that Skyrim will be full of bugs much like Oblivion was like until the patches. I would expect that Skyrim will be the same way. I've also heard that the PC version will be slightly better or more crisp than the console version. No idea about any of it, but I know that Skyrim will definitely be one of the greatest games ever.. I hope :) Can someone shed some light?

excuse typos please!

People expect it to be full of bugs, they don't know it will :P Bethesda, as great as their games are, tend to be a bit buggy at release. In past games, this was because of their game engine mostly, Gamebryo. Hopefully, with the development of their own engine it won't be quite so buggy and will hopefully run better (ie. less crashes).

Uh bugs really have nothing to do with game engine. I doubt gamebryo has many bugs. It's what you do with it..

using foul language on these boards is not allowed, even with the astrisk thingy's, I'd suggest you stop do so.

Well the bugginess it had was because of gamebryo but there weren't a TON of bugs that really affected you in any way. I think there was only one bug that actually kept you from going on with your game (Clavicus Vile quest). People need to realize that there are bugs in every game, no matter how hard you try to make them bug free.

As for the graphics, PCs are inherently better graphics and todd confirmed they will be shipping with high res textures for the PC version and I'm sure they will have the rest of our PC feature goodness. Now we just need to have console controller compatibility and I will be reclining while playing my PC graphics on my TV.

As a PS3 owner I'm a bit worried for myself. For Oblivion, Bethesda outsourced the game and created a version that was arguably better than the Xbox 360 version.

For Fallout 3 they did a simultaneous release and the PS3 version was the worst in terms of frame-rate, anti-aliasing and lack of trophies.

I really hope Bethesda have learnt from this experience, otherwise I won't purchase the game until the price drops.

Yeah i'm not too sure we can completely blame gamebryo for the bugs, it does seem that all of Beth's games ever since Daggerfall have suffered similar issues. The most popular bug being falling through the floor but general clipping is pretty popular too. Like you said though all games have bugs and I couldn't care less about them. I've never quit a game because of bugs.

I worked as a software tester once and one of my team mates was obsessed by them, he would actually not buy a game if he feared it would be buggy. I felt sorry for him.

If you play the PC version. can you set the contols to what they would be on a ps3 controller? If so, can you get controllers like a ps?

Well I did have an old account on here back when Oblivion was coming out but I forgot what it was, but I've never been banned, I was just letting him know. lol I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy(need to keep them close), I would however sneak into my enemies house and break his copy of the game and replace it with Madden or something. :ninja:

I know you can plug in an Xbox360 controller and play straight away, USB, dunno about PS3. It can be quite good with these type of games because of the amount of walking.

I am sure what he said is perfectly acceptable, people say a lot worse and nothing happens to them.

No, if you feel the need to swear, either put a self-[censored] or type the word out full so it auto-censors. Putting asterisks to replace letters is not acceptable, and can get you a warning from a moderator.

It doesn't have compatible drivers automatically. Just google PS3 controller for PC and you should find some easily that work, but only for some programs that have gamepad support.
