Game Area

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:59 am

We know the map area of Skyrim is similar to Cyrodiil, but with the Oblivion worlds, the sewers, and the sheer amount of dungeons, there is a huge area of Oblivion not on the map. The question I have is does Skyrim have a playable area similar to Oblivions. It seems hopeful, given the eight fold increase of devs working on the dungeons, that there could be a huge underground area, but they may be employed on hand drawing smaller unique dungeons.
Given that Skyrim has "only" 130 dungeons, it seems we may have quality, but a lot less quantity, in actual playable area. I have no problem with less but better, but it depends on how much less, it's possible some may feel cheated if the game simply contains less content.
Does this worry anyone, do you want more game area just because that means more game, regardless of the details?

I'm hoping for bigger and more diverse dungeons too. I think in the podcast Todd mentions dungeons being "in the mountains", which definitely sounds interesting to me.
What I would like is if some dungeons were so big and difficult I would have to bail to get more supplies or something before I can clear the whole thing - that never happened to me in Oblivion, IIRC.

As long as enemies respawn in dungeons so i can go back & collect loot ( even if its low level) and have more fun slaying monsters then im happy, in oblivion everytime i went back to a dungeon a had already been to it would a new adventure

The world is big. It's Fast Travel that made it small.

considering i didnt go in a single non quest dungeon ever in oblivion; 130 more than none is always better.

I would like bigger forests, I loved wondering around in oblivion, I'm not a tree-hugger or anything I just thought it was cool.

who let you out of tenpenny tower?

I am guessing it will be bigger they have way more people working on the dungeons this time, I think they have 4 but in Oblivion they had 1

8 people on dungeons now! I wonder though if there should be more than one person doing the music for a 100+hr game?
