Upgraded Melee Combad

I am very sorry i know this is suppost to be in idea's and suggestions but i cant stand the thought of an idea such as this being lost in that damn vortex of ideas. I always thought what more could you have besides hack and slash with a FP game like elder scrolls and then it hit me, Halo.. When you have your energy sword drawn and come near an enemy the crusor will flash red for quick strike, if you implement this into TES you can have your crusor change different colors depending on the sequence in battle for example it will flash BLUE to give you the change to Parry an oncomming strike, soon after you parry the attack it will flash red for a split second to give you the change to counter. You can do many things with this there can be a GREEN for dodge and so forth. Depending on your position in battle it will do different motions and attacks there could also be COLORS for attacks comming from behind giving you the chance to avoid them or do a cool move where you stab behind you the possibilities are limitless and you could have powerful NPC that could match you in combat stringing epic sword fights between you. I just thought about if a character is stabbing at you and you push the button you are suppost to when the crusor flashes and you grab is sword and hold it inside you taking damage but leving him defensless to your attacking arms and as long as you mash say the A button fast enough you could hold there weapon in you for a long time giving you free hits at them, just another idea. Please i am very excited about this idea if any of you could put it into simplar context or add on to it please do so.

I'm not a Halo player, but I can see the possibilities of your idea. How would attributes and skills effect this game mechanic?

The higher your skill in the weapon your using the more battle options you have during different sequenses in battle, for example lets say your playing a theif/assasin you could gain dodging abilities during battle if your agility and athletics are high enough say someone swings horizontally, if your player is fast enough you could duck it if you hit the button when it flashes then you have the option to do a quick slash if you hit it again in time.

I kind of like your idea :) Unfortunately, I don't think a lot of others will. I see a lot of people complain about the picking locks skill because its too much of a mini game, and doesn't necessarily reflect character skill (instead of player skill... even though there is an auto-try option). People are going to want their character ability to win a sword fight to be based on their characters sword skill, not their reflexes. Your idea would kind of fit better in a Fable game, not necessarily TES.
