Any criticism of administration action should be done http://www.jamieep.co.uk/forums/
I will inform you at this moment that an urge to grief makes you a liability and a consensus must be made. If you can put a good case forth over on Jamie's forums, leniency might be delivered. It is important to note that our server is rather fearful of potential griefing as early in its history it suffered greatly at the hands of some more malicious members. Thanks to the addition of new plugins we are much safer, but no less paranoid.

nah Undone is probably just having a bad day. Also I would never grief in a controlled server but the ones where everyone does whatever they want. I find it fun acting like a raider ransacking peoples homes.

I am trying to create McDonalds in my server. I made this area "employees only" where i place all the animals i slaughter that i later feed to people. But they keep disappearing. Is it possible to make them stay with some sort of pluggin or mod?

Will do. Downloaded now. I've got some time off this week, so hopefully I'll have plenty of time to explore. And build stuff!

(And say how ridiculously cool all the previous work was)

Its almost my turn. :D

Also this is probably very old news, but I just read that Notch is going to add pet dogs sometime.

Public Health and Safety Warning to all. Do not try to fight creepers under large cliffs made of sand. Creeper blew up bottom of cliff, rest of cliff collapsed (looking spectacular while doing so) and buried poor Robbio. Wasnt sure whether to swear for dying or cheer for the epic roof-collapse. (seriously, half the bloody mountain fell down on top of me)

Patience, padawan. I leave the map for Gamemastr this coming Monday, and he'll leave it for you the next. The good news is that those before you will have already helped pave the way for cool projects by taking care of some of the more tedious aspects, like mining.

Anyway, I suppose I can give a quick status update on what's been done:

Gate Keeper built a nice shack jutting out of the mountain near spawn, and a path and some ladders to get there.

Ant extended a tunnel to the other side of the ridge, where he established a home base of sorts. I foresee it expanding into a wee village with multiple huts/cottages. There's some water elevators, and further on a cool Nether jumpgate to a logging area.

http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l253/mr_e12345/bedsweetbed-1.jpg

Oh, and he also left behind a massive jumble of cobblestone with a lava experiment gone wrong...

http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l253/mr_e12345/lavacobbletower.jpg

My first task was to hollow out that big tower.

http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l253/mr_e12345/cobbleclusterf.jpg
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l253/mr_e12345/almostcleared.jpg
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l253/mr_e12345/thatsbetter.jpg

Now I've moved storage from Ant's small warehouse into this much larger one. Still, I've only got storage to occupy 2 to 3 floors of the behemoth, and there's enough space for another 5 to 7 floors (not counting the roof, which I'm converting to a wheat farm greenhouse.) I'm still pondering what to do with the rest... Perhaps a museum of sorts, to display the various blocks and give some room for small sculptures? Or a 3-dimensional maze? It would be a pity to just chop the whole tower down.

Oh, and I'm also doing what I do best, it seems, which is setting up a strip and branch mine. I've got all the floors labeled by the sought-after ores to be found there.

It starts with an 8x8 strip mine, http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l253/mr_e12345/stripmine.jpg.
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l253/mr_e12345/branchmine-1.jpg
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l253/mr_e12345/foremanoffice.jpg

It's a lot of work already done, but I had nothing but free time yesterday. I'm already petering out.

Edit: oh, and an odd thing happened while I was working... I somehow cloned a pig by pushing it off a tower to its death. Seriously. I watched it fall (like the sicko I am), it died, and suddenly there were two pigs!

Just got Minecraft and really having a blast getting into it. Rather overwhelming at the start, however. Honestly, I'm looking forward the most to the finished product with fully functional multiplayer that includes enemies and the like, but I'll have plenty of fun until then.

Anyway, I'm rather confused as to what the BGSF community is doing with this game. Could somebody fill a newbie in? I don't need to know game mechanics, I can just read the wiki and watch tutorials. More an explanation as to what big projects you guys are up to. Knowing you all, though, it's probably something like creating the provinces of Tamriel. :P

I'm impressed you were able to hollow out that tower so quick. You wouldn't believe how much I was freaking out over that thing. The interior was such a mess because I started with one small cobble tower and poured lava over it at least 4 more times, each time trying to make it less visually horrific. Eventually I poured a final layer of lava over it to make the decent looking tower you see today... It made my cliff-side-turned-tower thingy look so inadequate, and blocked it from view from almost all sides, which is why I wanted to tear it down. But by all means find a good use for it if you can.

The Bed Sweet Bed building was actually hastily constructed on the last day I had the map. I was living in a nice little underground room (well it was underground before I mined out that area), and it had a little tree on top and everything. It was more cozy, but I thought it'd be best to make a real house for you to live in if you planned on doing any work there. Remember that you can do whatever you want with that base I made. If you foresee it becoming a small village, turn it into that village if you want. The cycle of players wont come back to me for a good number of weeks, and there's nothing I myself can do to it during that time, so the logging area, the cobble mine, the jumpgate area, and so on are all yours to use and develop to your liking.

We have a multiplayer server and a shared single player map. The way the shared map works is that each week, a new person gets to work on it for a week until they have to upload it and give it to the next person. This is the third week we've been doing this, so it hasn't been going on that long, but I think it has a lot of potential.

Use and develop, yes :) I've been making frequent trips to the logging hills, for instance. There's already some infrastructure laid down, and I see no reason to make massive edits to any of that. We'll want each player's "flavor" added to the final product, after all, and we can't very well clear things away or make wholesale changes just because one of us isn't keen on something.

(Ditto)

Edit: oh, and PS - Undone has requested to be added to the queue for the map share... I dunno if that makes me the keeper of the queue, but it matters not. He requested two days, I told him he'd bloody well get a week anyway!

You should definitely be keeper of the queue considering you seem to be the only one among us who even remembers what the order is. :P

In fact, would you mind posting the order again?

And once everyone who is interested in participating in the shared map gets a turn for a week, we should really consider shortening the time we each have it during the next cycle. Maybe 3 or 4 days instead of a week. It's just that at this rate this first cycle will be a month or two long. Everyone should get a week first, it's only fair, but future cycles should be shorter.

Once the bottom of the order is reached, we go back to the leadoff hitter.

Agreed. I'm in favor of 2 days, as Undone wanted. The third day could be a grace period to allow enough time to work out kinks and upload it for the next person.

Requesting to be whitelisted. I'd like to state in advance that I'm both kind of a newbie at this game and that I have no interest in griefing or the like. I won't be in there too much at first since I'm learning the ropes in SP.

I'd like to have my name taken off the list, please. I don't think I'll have much time to do anything with the map. I may jump back in sometime later when I know I'll have some free time.

I'm having some trouble changing my offline skin, I go into minecraft.jar and replace char.png with a new char.png, it appears to work, however when I play it, it shows the default skin still and going into minecraft.jar reveals the char.png has reverted back to the default player skin. Can somebody tell me how to stop this? Thanks in advance.

I was using WinRAR to open the .jar file, unless there's a second step involving WinRAR I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Is it ok if Mr E puts you at the bottom off the list so if time does clear up you wont have to wait a few weeks?
Also when does your week end Mr E? I'm away this weekend do don't bother uploading it till monday, if your time ends this weekend.

I think the network administrator in my school recently learned regular expressions... this week websites with "xxx" in the title are automatically blocked. Which isn't a problem for most people because no one looks for porm while they are in school, but it means that I can't view this thread while using the school network :P
