Typing ō on an English keyboard

I'm having some trouble with japanese input on my English keyboard. I'm using an IME and it works fine for most words but it fails me every time I try to use a word that has a macron in its rōmaji translation. For example ō, in the world kyō (今日 - today)

All help is appreciated.. this is driving me crazy

There wasn't much help on that page but there were a few links to other sites, I found out that I can write ou / oo insted of ō, which isn't exactly what I was looking for but it's very helpful non the less.
