Marvel VS Capcom 3

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 8:13 pm

Just got it today and played a few matches with my friends. I still a bit confused from the shift from SFIV, so I haven't pulled off any good combos yet. The Shuma-Gorath shirt that came with the special edition is awesome, and has him gripping 4 Servbots in his tentacles.

Just play Ryu and Akuma til you make the transition, they're exactly the same. I would suggest you also pick up wolverine, he's great for beginners.

You know how to aerial exchange, right?

Yeah. I'm probably going to fool around in practice mode a bit more before doing any real matches.

My main team will probably be Wesker, Amaterasu, and Dante.

No one has charge moves in this game, except maybe one Hulk special.

Wow, what a bummer. The charge/command makes SF so special.

I think I might pick up this game, still not sure if I should. My friends are still on SSF4, no one has MvC3 yet.

Also, anyone know the sales on this game so far?

Just finished up a few matches with friends. I'm starting to get a lot better with Amaterasu and Wesker, and I even managed to pull of Wesker's Counter-Hyper (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3h-2PEioCc&t=0m18s) with X-Factor going, which K.O.'ed X-23 from about 70% health.
I even had a three game streak going before I was dethroned :D

Spooky is kind of being terrible today.

Is that DSP commenting too? That guy is just... ugh. Hopefully we'll see some good play though.

It's great to play every now and again. It's difficult to play constantly. A lot if fun to play with a freind assuming they are as good as you.

It looks pretty good and MVC 2 was awesome but I've been hearing that it isn't so good as people thought it would be

Haven't really played any fighting games seriously since Virtua Fighter 3.

MVC3 was the first one I played in awhile, and I was actually surprised how much fun I had playing. Kinda felt a bit button mashy though, then again I svck at fighting games.

It's mostly just people whining that they can't automatically win by picking Magneto, Sentinel and Storm all over again. Also a lot of the older players (like Justin Wong) hate that everyone svcks right now, because it means they're getting beaten by newcomers more often.

Whats this games learning curve like? More difficult than SF4?

Whats it like doing combos, compared to SF4? Timing, or button mashing?

Whats thing simple vs normal mode thingy like?

Simple mode is just mindless button mashing. Combos are one one button, specials on another, and Hyper combos just take one button press. It even team aerial combos for you. If two newbs are against each other, and one is on simple, and the other is on normal, the one on simple will win 90% of the time.
Once you learn how to defend against it though, people who play on simple mode are your punching bags.
As for combos, it normally goes L-M-H-S-M-M-H-S. And after that you can use an assist or an attack to OTG and partially continue the combo. You can also replace the last S with a Hyper Combo. Some characters have extremely strict timing, while others are a bit more lax. You can also team aerial combo by hitting special and a direction, the doing the second half of that combo again. You can do it once more, and end with a hyper if you want. The aerial combo builds a lot of meter if you send them down every time you switch, but TACs can be defended by pressing S+the same direction your opponent presses. That does a fair amount of damage and puts them on the defensive.

Learning curve I would say is easier initially, and then gets harder as you learn the extended combos.
