History on your character

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 8:36 pm

So i went back a few pages and i couldn't find anything on the subject. I'm sure that there has been a few threads like this, but i'm interested.

So what is your characters name, race, history, and maybe skill set (type of character ie. assassin, knight, ect) that you normally use.
I sure we have some interesting stories out there.

This fit's better in the fan fiction forum, hence why you probably didn't find a thread like it.

While this may be a bit thread hijacking I actually had an idea that could turn your characters thought up history into a feature.

During character creation you have the ability to write a history of things your character lived through, you chose them from a dropdown menu of possible occurrences in your past which the game then compiles into different skills, attributes and other conditions like your maximum health, stamina, magic, what advantages and disadvantages you have and so on.

One idea was to extend that even more and make those selections "playable", this could make them even more individual and introduce more variations in the outcomes. For example you could select that you had a big fight in your childhood, playing the event can cause different outcomes like running away from the fight, managing to successfully beat your opponents, get clobbered badly, accidentally kill someone... all those could alter the outcome and with that how it changes your characters stats on outcome.

Doing this would be fully optional, you could still just pick and chose your attributes how you want them, but like this it would allow a RP friendly way and, since many people do make a character history, this could actually make it count something. Plus it would NOT destroy the "person with a mysterious past" thing TES has going since the history would be different for every character.

First time through Tes 3 & 4. Nord in 3, Redguard in 4. Did strickly a hackslash characters named Kamikaze. Threw some magic skills in the 2 time through.

3rd time through both games did a straight up Mage.

Never played Oblivion again after that.

Morrowind 4th time to the 100th time almost always a mage, usually a elf... have never played as one of the beast race.

I'm still playing Tes 2 for the first time... I'm a High Elf, alot of strength and high luck from a dice roll. Wish I put my climbing skill a little higher and skeletons still kick my butt.

I usually play a nomadic ranger type who prefers solitude and wilderness to people and towns.

I know my job and my role and only report to the imperial legion when I have too.

I live off the land, am one with nature, the shadows and my bow.

I never, ever use any kind of magic.

I care not for possessions and reside in the waterfront shack.

When I eat or drink at an inn, im the one sat in the dark corner, observing.

Well, my character for Arena and Daggerfall was the same guy. His name was Gaius Titanus, and he was a paladin like character and quested for justice and died while activating the Numidium.

My Morrowind character was the son of my Daggerfall character and also a paladin like character, was named Dmitri Titanus and was the Nerevarine and killed Dagoth Ur, Almalexia, Vivec, and defeated Hircine. He then left to Akavir and disappeared forever.

My Oblivion character was the son of Dmitri and was named Scipio Titanus and was a paladin character too. After helping Martin save the empire he went on a quest to become a real hero himself and then became the Knight Commander of the Nine. After defeating Umaril he answered Sheogorath's call and went inside of the gate. Scipio was corrupted into the new mad god during the Shivering Isles main quest and was unrecognizable to his former self and continued to rule as the mad god.

For TESV I plan to make the start of a new heroic family and change up the class to more of steathy warrior type character, instead of a huge combat only class with a couple healing spells.

Dar'Tipahz stole the letter V, from the Dunmer. In a confrontation with the Thief of Morrowind, the two scribed a new language for the Dunmer. Vivec acknowledged Pahz, the Vizier of the Incorporeal Ministry of Truth. Thus, Vivec murdered his Elsweyrian, mirror-brother's soul. Pahz went on to steal the Riddle-Thar - reacquiring Rajhin's soul from the Moons - Sheogorath's cane, and Pelinal's spirit-gun.

Mammus Omeyn, sword-singer of the diaphragm-blade. He's a wanderer, false incarnate, and Mythic Dawn yogin. He survived the ritual of Labyrinth, and tasted the Elixir of Life, witnessing the Mysterium Xarxes himself. He and Mankar never met or traded ideas. He currently scavenges the sulfurous ruins of Vvardenfell for Dwemeri enchantments, which he uses to augment his supernatural prowess.

Prince Zubora, human Marukhati, and Boatswain of the epoch Rivers. His family - an ancient clan of Sutch, steeped in the Prophet's teachings - was butchered in their palace, by the Colovian Estates. He fled to Rihad, where a friend of his father taught him the Alessian prophesies and their Mythopoeic suggestions. He's my Swiss army knife.

This guy lives out in the wilds. He's capable of hunting his food, using herbs and first aid on his injuries. He's athletic, knows how to hanlde a horse and a repair hammer, and of course all weaponry imaginable. The bigger the better, knives are ment for eating your food. In combat he wears heavy armor, if anything. Sometimes he goes almost naked, when hunting or foraging. He's not afraid to fight naked, since he's tough and agile, able to dodge and block well. Even serious injuries he can take care of, and his natural ability to regenerate saves him from tight spots. Sometimes he beats drums on his campfire, to make enemies know he's around, to scare beasts away, or just for fun.
Even though strong, tough and agile, he's slow due to his enormous size. He's also considered a bit slow in the head.
His social skills are nonexistent. He has hard time making friends, chatting and haggling are awkward for him.
He's also inable to use magic. He doesn't even use spell scrolls.
Daedra give him the creeps. He rather avoids communicating or fighting with them.
He's liked among the simple folk, for he's known to get rid of beasts and he likes to help people. Soldiers look up to him for his weapon prowness, while priests and healers respect his talent for herbs and medical.
Merchants dislike him for he never buys anything, he finds everything he needs in the woods, or as enemy's loot. Scholars and nobles don't think him as anything, he's just some dim witted pervert who's been rumoured to go naked in the woods and whatnot.
