Sights and Sounds of Skyrim (Video)

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 5:37 am

Hey everybody,

This is just a fan contribution thread, not necessarily anything having to do with the content of Skyrim. I posted a video before, and not only was the music fairly crappy it also contained scans (so the thread was banned).

I managed to get closer to what I intended to do the first time around (musically) in this track, and I've replaced all of the background images with real locations that I hope serve as an inspiration for Skyrim's landscape.

Please let me know what you think, I intend to keep working on this until I get the sound right. It might take a few more songs before I hit the mark.

I liked the music, can't wait for the in-game music though, the music is some of the best aspects of the series. And this track kinda goes into that category^^

Thank you! Like I said, this is my second attempt at a truly 'Skyrim' musical experience, and I don't think I've got it quite yet. This is still tame, still welcoming in a way. I don't believe Skyrim should be that way at all. It's rugged, worn and overflowing with history. I wouldn't be surprised if every tree in Skyrim was home to at least a few ghosts of human ancestors.

I feel like I've gotten the icy-ness down, but not necessarily the culture. That's going to be my next pursuit. Adding some of the history of the land to the music.

(Then again, I know Jeremy Soule has already done all of this... But what the heck? :D )

edit:

I think I'm gonna add a poll, why not? Right?

What it is now is perfect, Morrowind's melody coated a with Nordic flavor.

And Oblivion and Morrowind's title themes are two different things that are not similar, one is more action based, and the other more moody and dreamy.

I'm pretty sure they've already gotten the soundtrack done by now. That's usually one of the earliest things that game devs do. The video in which they talked about the main theme of Skyrim, they said they've had it done for 2 years. I don't see them changing it now.

Conan the Barbarian , since its heavily inspired by that I wonder why it's not in the list of options ...
btw that music seems a mix of native american , chinese and some xilophone , I personally don't think fits much no offense ... I would see it more fitting to a Last Samurai Movie ....

Why even add the last option if you start the question off with " If you had to choose"?

Skyrim, unique tracks that just *fits* the game. But it has to be exploration like, not the dramatic stuff from the title and teaser trailer, that's just "too noisy".

I like the music except for the chime sort of noises, which sound a little out of place, and a bit oriental.
