I got pretty excited when I first heard Zeta was coming out. I was hoping there'd be more to it. Something like this:
You get abducted, and your inventory gets stripped. You get a control chip implanted in you, and then get released back into the wastes with an alien probe device to go implant dormant control chips into as many wastelanders as you can in preparation for the forthcoming invasion. You periodically return to the mothership to upload the probe data and control chip info, each time receiving some of your stuff back (as you gain their trust). This continues either indefinitely (eventually you have all of your stuff but continue to receive alien tech in exchange for data) or until you're able to convince your primary alien contact, via speech check, to switch sides and deactivate the control chip. After that I guess you'd go through the rest of the normal Zeta sequence, possibly with your new alien sidekick to back you up. After exterminating much of the ship's crew, the ship's AI undergoes some sort of psychotic break, with part of it becoming subservient to the entity that just wiped out its creators, and the rest of it vowing to kill you. The two battle it out, which ends with the mothership crashlanding in the wasteland. Upon exiting, a giant alien version of Liberty Prime disengages from the ship loaded with what's left of the hostile alien AI. After you've dealt with it, you end up with a revisitable alien craft, basically a small enclosed city, parked somewhere in the wastes, and a shielded, blaster wielding alien companion.
