The Abandoned East

Prologue

Ancient writings that the Empire has allowed into the public suggest that nearly Four Hundred years ago, in the long forsaken eastern lands of Tamriel, a once vast nation lived. This nation was comprised of many Houses, Religions, and even gangs. Supposedly, they enslaved the great Argonians and Khajiits as slaves, a act that in these times, is punishable by death of the enslaver and anyone else involved with said enslavement.

A vast majority of the people of this nation, known as the Dunmer were known to worship three supposed Demi-Gods, known as The Tribunal. It is said that these three had found a relic of some sort that allowed them to create powerful weapons and armor, while imbuing them with great power. At the same time however, a fourth force took ahold of the relic and unleashed upon what we call The Gray Island a great Blight. At first, this force was imprisoned for two hundred long years, the Blight slowly spreading across the island, weakly.. controllable.

Then near the ending of what was known as The Third Era, this Fourth Force broke free from its bonds and began to engulf the entire nation of The Dunmer in Blight. The Tribunal however merely watched, as a foreigner of the modern-day Imperial Mainland journeyed across the Gray Island, uniting the many politics and houses of the region. Finally, a great battle was fought at the foot of the source of the Blight, a volcano by the name of Red Mountain.

As this battle was fought, a second group of soldiers supposedly broke through the main forces of the Fourth Faction, taking a back road and entering the volcano itself. No one truly knows of the events that transpired inside, but it is written that the Foreigner, labeled Nerevarine, emerged victoriously, holding in his left, Gauntlet wearing hand, a mighty blood covered blade, and in his right, a golden mask.

The Blight ended shortly after, and many celebrations were held for nearly a entire month. These celebrations were cut short however, as troubles in both, the mainland, and a nearby island began to arise. The Nerevarine supposedly travelled to what was once the Capital City of the Dunmer, Mournholde. There, over the course of a month, he was written to venture deep beneath the city, doing battle against hordes of goblins and undead, while waging war upon a powerful clan of Assassin's known as The Dark Brotherhood.

One night though, Mournholde fell under attack from what we, and those of the past call the constructs of The Dwemer. From a strange structure they emerged, killing about nine civilians before Ordinators of The Tribunal could put a stop to it. The Nerevarine travelled into the structure, supposedly by order of The Tribunal, one specifically. A female demi-god, known as Amalexia. When he emerged, the Nerevarine went to the citadel of this demi-god... he was never seen again.

Nor was Amalexia or Sotha Sil, another of the Tribunal. Nearly ten years later, what we believe to be a foreign continent waged war upon Tamriel, invading from all sides. With so much civil unrest throughout the land, the final member of The Tribunal, a being known as Vivec did great battle against the war-wagers of the other lands... however, even though he seemed to push back there forces, Vivec himself suddenly disappeared.

The invasion ended, but the civil unrest only grew stronger. Councilmen bickered and quarreled, the mighty religion that worshipped The Tribunal was about to collapse after having been withering away for so long, and rumors were spreading. Rumors of the Blight's return.... of Nerevar's involvement. Not one year after the end of the invasion, and riots were breaking out all over in the Eastern land. Many Dunmer blamed the Empire for there troubles.

Then, one day, a massacre occurred in the Imperial City. No one knows who struck first, but the statistics were there. Twelve Dunmer killed, six wounded. Nine Imperial Guardsmen killed, along with four civilians in crossfire, three wounded. This massacre sparked anger in both, The Empire, and Dunmer people. Riots began to break about all over the country of Tamriel, casualties rising... and then, finally, a order was given.

The Empire marched through towns, searching houses, destroying camps, all for one task. The Extermination of all Dunmer in the country. As this was occuring, the Eastern Land was under heavy siege from The Empire, deaths rising to the thousands every day. For seven years, this holocaust occurred.. and then, it was declared. The Dunmer people were extinct. The Eastland was declared off limits, so that the military may clean up the massive mess of corpses and ruins they had left.

In modern times, our brave Empire has sparked curiosity regarding The Nerevar, and Dwemer. For this very reason, transportation in and out of the Eastern Land has been made legal, with proper documentation. For two years, the mainland has been getting moved into. Now, finally, transportation into the Island is available for those given permission by The Empire, which requires something in return.

This story begins in the reclaimed fort of Ebonheart, where General Greywood commands his troops to search for any Imperial and Dunmer documents they can find while repairing the fort and scouring the land. A ship is scheduled to arrive on the 17th of Frostfall, at Four AM in the morning. Mostly containing scholars, alchemist, Imperial Battle Mages, and under-payed crewmen, rooms are being prepared in the local tavern.

Things for the Empire are soon to change....
