What's up with Hotmail?

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 9:32 pm

I am wondering what is going on with hotmail? When ever I log in, I only see the last person who logged in. Before, there would be a list of who was saved when you had the "remember me" option.
Now it's a "remember me/password" but no "remember me" without password option. Is this something new?

Is there a way of getting the old way back or it has changed forever now?

I use the 'stay logged in' option, and haven't noticed a change. I know exactly what you're talking about but I would be surprised if they change it.

I tired the stay logged in, but when my son wanted to use hotmail, it went straight into my email account which I don't want that to happen. Also it's easier for him to just click on his name and then hit enter to get into his hotmail.

I dumped Hotmail a year ago when my ten year old account inexplicably got hijacked and spam emails from some Chinese website selling electronics and household junk was sent out to everyone in my contacts list with with the message "Hello special friend I think you like low prices!". I was enraged. Set up a Fastmail account and have been quite happy with it ever since. Just a few days ago my best friend's wife sent an alert around to everyone that her Hotmail account had been hacked and to ignore the message trying to get all her contacts to buy cheap Viagra. Basically, Hotmail accounts have a big fat bullseye on them for hackers. I also don't like Gmail. Way too unintuitive and cumbersome to use.

1. Use multiple user accounts. Every modern OS has it, so bloody use it. Letting other people use your user account is like letting other people use your safety deposit box: it's just stupid.

2. On that note: don't give administrative permissions to those who don't need it. That's like... well, the most obvious example isn't completely forum-friendly, so I'll leave it to your imagination ;)

3. Don't stay logged into websites: use a password manager.
