Game patch

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:57 am

Just wanna know what patch works the best or is best recommended. My last install I use the Unofficial Morrowind Patch v1.6.4 (3/13/2009)
Is this up dated. What about 'Repairing The Cogs of MW?' I just did a clean wipe and I'm starting a new mod list.

BTW. I noticed after a wipe and clean install that my keyboard and mouse controls have been saved, AND I am viewing
the game in a 16:9 AR. Why is this? Is this somehow left over from my MGE install? Or was there a reference in the
new Wyre Pythons. Very strange indeed. Thanks!

The latest version of the MWCP is http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19510
and the most recent MWPP (formerly the Unofficial patch) is http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tes3Mod:UMP (it is a Beta in name only.)

They can be used together with no problems. Install in any order.

:poke: Well...actually one more thing. Is there any benefit to running both? My philosophy is the less plugs the better.

Any idea on my second op paragraph?

There is a benefit to using both, as they both do different things.
The MWPP focuses on making the game bug-free. Fixing quests, scripts, dialog, floating objects, etc.
The MWCP does things that a normal mod can't, by altering the actual code of the game. Including the very vital "Savegame corruption fix." All gameplay changes are optional.

Not sure about your keyboard, but you can change the screen resolution in the Morrowind Launcher options.

Thanks Pluto. I'll use both then.

Sorry, I was talking about the aspect ratio. The games stock aspect ratio is 5:4 or 4:3. MGE turns it into a 16:9 which is
what I want anyway. I just couldn't understand that after a complete wipe and clean install that I'm seeing the
game at 16:9 without MGE. Very weird I tell you.

If you're saying what I'm thinking Oldplayer, about some old settings being around after a new install, then I believe you're right.
I'm not sure exactly what's going on, but after I started a new install I still had some settings left over from my old install.
I thought I had everything erased but I had to track down some things that were left over. Even after uninstalling the game and starting from scratch.
Sorry I can't specify what was still in files somewhere. I just kept looking for files that might have saved old info.

I'm using both MCP and MPP and they work fine together.

Yeah, I should have done a reg edit, but I like the aspect ratio without having MGE installed. So for now it's working out.
I may go back to it eventually, but right now I'm enjoying tons of high rez mods. Don't get wrong, Distant land was nice,
but it took away the mystery of the land by seeing all the way across the island. And if your going to turn the fog on to
match the vanilla fog then why even have MGE. I do miss the MGE hot keys. Especially the toggle cross-hair.

I play @2560x1600 on a 30" monitor which brings these OC'ed dual water cooled GPU's to a crawl with the game all
maxed out. And that's even pumping out 4.2GHz on a water cooled quad core and 4 gigs of RAM running @1550MGz.
I think my week link is this darn VISTA 64.....
