So we might not have Levitation...

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 9:30 pm

So I'm kind of in a rush so I can't find exact sources but I know there are several saying that experienced Tongues can use Dragon Shouts to move their person to wherever their shout lands. Can this maybe be an alternative to Levitation everyone is asking about? I can see this being a very fun way to access out of reach areas and things like that... :shifty:

But there is still a possibility of getting a loading screen after your shout lands. Then its not really a decent replacement anymore, its just like fast travel.

I hope I'm describing this right, I'm not 100% sure on how this works. Well, none of us are, but still.

Im thinking it wont be a loading screen as much as the quick loading kinda like when exploring in Oblivion. Just so the area you land in doesnt look like complete **** because it hasnt loaded.

If you have to have a loading screen where you land, then where you landed wasn't loaded - and if it wasn't loaded, then your shout couldn't land there, because there was nothing for it to hit.

I was under the impression the teleport shout was combat orientated, to port behind your enemy for a backstab or whatever?

I dont think any of the dragon shouts are good alternatives for anything, be it fast travel or levitation, because of the fact you have to participate in the main quest (kill dragons) to aquire them.

See, that makes more sense to me. Someone with a magazine about this topic confirm? I don't think GI talked about this much.

@sicklecell you can also get them off of walls in certain dungeons. Hopefully they are not all quest dungeons.

I was under the impression you could only teleport horizontally? I could see it working vertically as well though. We'll have to wait and see.

Yea, same. I think they should restrict teleportation, whether it's a shout or spell, to be somewhat short in range. To be honest, I don't really want levitation at all in skyrim. It would so ruin the experience if I just levitate over the top of the mountain instead of walking the narrow path and enjoy the amazing scenery.

Levitation is a cheat.

False.

I always figured it would have some kind of range where you wouldn't be able to hit something ridiculous like the White Gold Tower from Anvil, even though you could see it thanks to LOD. I figured it had to be in the same cell you were in, or in one of the 8 cells (minimum that will load around it for seamless travel.
