I never steal the limeware platter, the only thing I take are the dagger and Fargoth's ring.

I have resolved never to nick anything from the Census office  , although I have sometimes slept there if I am still in Seyda Neen on my first or second night on Vvardenfell. I always solve the murder of the tax collector & watch the elf fall. I give Fargoth his ring, and never take Hrisskar's quest. I do usually grab the axe in the tree stump, seeing as my Nords all use them as their primary weapon. It's not much of a weapon but Arrille rarely stocks anything half-way decent for axe-loving Nords, so its usually the best I can do.
Sometimes I take on the Addamasartus gang, sometimes I chicken out after being clobbered by an MCA pickpocket (or similar).
After that I head over to Balmora, making sure to collect mushrooms on my way, flowers too if I walk rather than ride.
Once I'm in Balmora I report to Caius, introduce myself to the Balmora Blades and then I feel my game really begins.

I spend the next few levels developing my character slowly, making friends (&enemies) trading, practicing and performing lowly quests for whatever guilds I have joined. Only when I am sure of what sort of character I am playing do I choose my House. And Caius sometimes has to wait a very long time before I come back for my first noob Blades task.

I almost always loot the entire room in the census office. Sometimes I even pick up the limeware platter in the first room.
I rarely give back Fargoth's ring. I always found it good to have a reusable heal spell for the first few levels.
After that it's pretty much random. I either stay in Seyda Neen for a little bit longer, stealing, doing quests etc. or I head out. I don't go immediately to Balmora. Sometimes I head to Vivec or towards Hla Oad.

Immediately running out and buying clothes that fit my character is the first thing I always do.

I always wind up using more alchemy than restoration (even when restoration is my skill and not alchemy...), and its becoming my new tradition to upgrade my armor every 5-10 levels. I decided to do this for fairness and it makes the game a good deal more interesting. :) (have you ever gotten pwned by a guy in iron/steel armor? I always admired that the AI could surprise me with a level 13 Nord in steel and wipe the floor with me. Therefore, I decided to try it myself.) My other new traditions include using my money to buy clothes to suit my rising ranks, armor repairs/hammers, and armor/weapons for when I get to a higher level. It keeps my money low.

My tradition is to only use my main character, since he has gone uber and starting over would just kill all the hours I put in.

Hmm, one of the first things I do every time is raid the Redoran Vaults in Vivec, then go visit Creeper.

Hmmm. Well, I steal the limewear platter, clean out the other two rooms in the census office, then when being released drop all of the loot, grab the candle off the table on the slide closest to the door, bait the guard that releases you to the other side of the room, drop the candle, let him catch me, then take the guard house key off the bookshelf, pick up all my loot then head out, give fargoth his ring (The disposition boost with Arille is worth it) Then i sell all my crap, do the murder quest but keep all 700 gold. Kill the smugglers, sell their crap. If Im a mage I collect all the mushrooms (So when I get the fake soulgem quest i can steal all her other soul gems as well and make a nice 30k off of them) Then I head to the silt strider straight to Balmora where I join the guild I wish to work for. And my time begins

Note: If I make an Orc my thing is to walk from the south point of Vvardenfell to the northen most point.

Tradition no. 1: Jumping's faster than running

Exactly.

I always start with going to Balmora and killing Ra`Virr (or what how its spelled), and then go sell his fiend tantos, and get a rich 10k start!

Typically with each one of my characters, I'll get done with generation then ill spend around 2 hours just around Seyda Neen. Why? Its just something Ive done since the first time I played the game. During these 2 hours I dont really get much done, a few side quests and a few level ups, but apart from that its just something Ive done for a long time.

About the only thing I do consistently is not use silt striders, and always explore the area around the roads real well. As great as fast travel is, there's always nice loot to be found. Otherwise, really does depend on the character. I've hit level 50 or so without completing the main quest a few times.

I send each of my characters on a running/swimming vacation around Vvardenfell and Solstheim. I generally do this pretty early in the character's life - usually before level 5. I started this in my very first game, back in 2002 and it become a kind of rite-of-passage for all my characters since then.

That actually sounds like a lot of fun, I might do that on my next character! :)

I almost always...
Take the Enchant skill.
Take the Mysticism skill.
Turn in Fargoth's ring.
Clear out Addamasartus.
Create a low-level weapon with my Enchant skill to summon a bound version.
Completely ignore the main quests, except to
Spoiler
get rid of the assassins
. I ran through all 3 MQs once a LONG time ago, and by now have forgotten most of the details about them. Maybe I should complete them again.

As with everything, it depends on what character I'm playing, but the closest I get to a tradition is:

Solving all the quests in Seyda Neen, the "good guy" option most of the time when doing "The Tax Collector".
Clearing out the nearest cave of bandits and freeing the slaves.
Usually exploration, either walking north along the coast, visiting the smaller villages, or sometimes South, then east, and then to Pelagiad.
When I've done that, I head to Balmora and turn in the package, ask about orders once so I get some gold, then leave and do whatever I feel like.

I always do all of Seyda Neen's quests at first before heading to Balmora. Also I get the key to the one storehouse in Seyda Neen and get all the armor and weapons in there first to really equip my character without losing too much money.

I have some traditions:

Always live in Balmora, always do the Edwinna Elbert(?) quest line. And always the Ajira one, too. About level 3 I clear the cave near Seyda Neen. And about level 8 I clear the one in the foyada(?) called Zainsi-something. Good loot. Eventually I buy a CE-enchanted "regen" shirt (Restore Health 1/sec) and sleep rarely after that.

I also have some habits:

I always put away my weapon when entering a town or other safe zone, even if just passing through.

I also always put away my weapon when talking to a stranger, even if I know he/she will attack me eventually.

I save all books and other papers related to the main quest. I keep them together as a sort of "intelligence" repository.

I don't jump when traveling, until I come to a drop (slope or stairs), then I jump down it. Sometimes I have wandered in mountains, misjudged the slope, and killed myself at low levels doing this!

Before I hit level 5......I usually :

Live out of the crates in Balmora or stay in the guard towers in Caldera.
Buy a modded bedroll.
Set up an Alchemy Lab with one crate for ingredients and one crate for meats.
Visit Suran for goodies.....
Visit Tel Branora for goodies....
Around level 3 or 4 I fight all of the little thugs and their mistress outside Tel Branora.....and collect the reward.
I find a certain cave and pay a visit to a certain individual in Vivec.
I find most of the armor setting around in different locations to sell or use. Medium armor is my favorite.

In General :

I clear out the cave Yasamsi near Hla Oad around level 6 or 7...it's a tough fight....lots of loot....and I like living there.
I visit the Grazelands and harvest a common ingredient there for a very long time....and gather a rather huge haul....
I do a similar run on the eastern coasts for another common ingredient.

I always wait for an opportunity to lock Ernand Thierry in the tower of the Mage's Guild in Caldera if he steps over the threshold and I can shut the door on him. I have only done this once successfully.....and it's not easy........it made for a peaceful remainder of the game every time I used the Mage's Guild fast travel there. I'm constantly, obsessively waiting for the opportunity. heh heh.

Can't think of much more that I always do as a matter of tradition. I've tried to be somewhat vague as to not spoil too much......

I often set up an initial alchemy business at the top of the Caldera MagesGuild Tower. Got some gear i can use easily and ready access to a. incredient, b. people who will buy potions and c. access to guild guides to get around to places incase i need some particular ingredient.

Paying homage to Pop is always good idea ;)
