Questions for Bloodmoon veterans

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:10 am

I'm starting a new game specifically to play Bloodmoon, since I've never touched it before. I'm thinking of using Midgetalien's http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1112685-relz-solstheim-alternate-beginning/ but I'm a bit worried about starting things in Bloodmoon at level 1. Generally speaking, what is the recommended level for tackling Bloodmoon? If necessary, I'd be willing to up my stats and level with the console to an appropriate level. I've got no interest in Vvardenfell for this playthrough, and won't be going there unless a Bloodmoon quest sends me.

Also, if you consider all of the armor available specifically on Solstheim (of which I have no knowledge), would you recommend Heavy or Medium armor for my primary armor skill? I've almost always played with Light Armor in the main game and want to try one of the others.

I'm trying to avoid spoilers as much as possible, so hopefully these questions are broad enough to not spoil anything.

Bloodmoon is kind of advanced. Tuned around level 15+. Especially the second quest in the main story of Bloodmoon. Those enemies will kill you VERY quickly.
So, be careful. Level up by killing wolves. Anything bigger, run your ass away.

The humble reikling boar can dish it out too. Avoid them till your higher level.

Yeah, Bloodmoon isn't for low-level characters. As far as armor is concerned, I think light and heavy are both represented pretty well. And there is a quest that begins on Vvardenfell. Not a big deal, but if you want to get the full Bloodmoon experience ....

So, maybe level 15 is a good starting point? Or would 20 be better?

Medium gets the shaft again, eh? That's why I never even bothered with it. There was so few. As far as the quest you're talking about, is it this one?

Spoiler
The one you get from the guy standing outside the mage guild in Ald'Ruhn? I've talked to him about it before, but as I said, I've never done Bloodmoon.

It always sounded interesting, and is one of the many reasons I want to play Bloodmoon.

You could be a lower level if you get a weapon skill over 70.
Though, more hitpoints would help.

I would say 25, but it's okay with a level 20 char. The later quests might require a level of 35 or higher.

20 until you start fighting werewolves. Then get up to 30 or 40.

as for armor, if you plan to use the Snow wolf/bear armors, it depends on your preference. Both Heavy and Light are fine in terms of that. But for overall protection, I'd go with Light. Bloodmoon is unforgiving, and you need armor you can run away in if need be.

bloodmoon is tricky for lower level charaters but not impossible. As long as you keep your wits about you.

Avoid spriggans - they ressurect 2 times - so its like fighting 3.

Avoid reikeling raiders - these are way over powrered.

I'd suggest looting tombs/caves and flee if you find your self overwhelmed.

The reason I like starting in bloodmoon is it offer a greater challenge to morrowind and therefore feels more rewarding.

I wouldn't even consider touching Bloodmoon until level 30 or so, so that you can experience things without having to travel back to train and stuff like that. The end fight of Bloodmoon, you'd get your ass handed to you unless you were cheating.

Yep. That's the one. That guy keeps referring to me as a female, even when I'm not. I'm going to kick him in the jimmy, the next time I wander his way.

Buy the best Nordic Silver weapons ftw, Werewolves have a 50% weakness to it.

As well as Nordic Silver weapons generally having way more durability then the standard ones, 2k weapon hp Nordic standard etc is better then 650 weapon hp standard etc that you find in Vvardenfell.

Some Nordic Silver weapons cause more damage then standard as well. I thought there was one Nordic Silver weapon that had the same or darn close to Ebony weapon damage.

Also as for the medium armor... I think someones forgetting about http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Bloodmoon:Raw_Stalhrim ice armor + its weapons you get to make after completing the east empire company quests.

I didn't mention the Stalhrim armor because that's a (minor) spoiler, it doesn't come until very late in the game, and it is, I think, the ugliest armor in any of the games that I've seen. Heavy and Light armors are much better represented in Bloodmoon than Medium. At least Vvardenfell had Bonemold armor.

As looks go, I could do without Glass but it does the job and if you wish, has high enchantment levels.
